We are now living in the age of convergent art.
Speaker A
In the past, art forms like painting, music, and dance were seen as separate. But today, those boundaries are fading, giving rise to new forms and combinations.
Speaker A
No matter the scale, the genre, or even the theme to make true convergent art happen, you need more than a single artist. And that's exactly what aplan-company is.
Speaker A
a:museum is our signature media art exhibition brand. Its first opening was held at the iconic Ayala Mall in the Philippines.
Speaker A
It was a massive 4628 square meters exhibition overseas, which drew major attention in the industry.
Speaker A
Instead of just looking at the art, we designed the space so visitors could feel it with all their senses. It was truly a large-scale convergent art project. And the fact that it was completed in just one year that was tough, but also an unforgettable experience.
Speaker A
And this was only possible because of the directors we've worked with for years, and our passionate team who gave it their all. Our unique label system also played a huge part.
Speaker A
To plan, produce, and run these projects, we operate six independent labels, each specializing in different areas. They cover exhibition space, media art, performance, fine arts, and video production, plus a dedicated art research lab.
Speaker A
This system has allowed us to grow beyond just an agency into a true comprehensive art company.
Speaker A
Most of the time, we don't notice the space we stand in, we focus on the objects in front of us.
Speaker A
But it's the space itself that shapes that experience.
Speaker A
Space is no longer just a stage for art. It is where art begins. That belief's what gave birth to our label, a-space.
Speaker A
From museums to theme parks for projects big and small, especially large-scale projects from design to construction, to content planning and production, a-space leads every step so that space begins as art and finds its completion in art.
Speaker A
Over the last decade, media art has steadily gained popularity.
Speaker A
The trend has been to adopt the latest tech over the last and create bigger, flashier works.
Speaker A
But we had to ask ourselves, is that really art beyond just tech?
Speaker A
Technology is just the tool that translates art. That's how it should function. Our dedicated media art production label a-media's aim.
Speaker A
This includes digital signage, media facades with projection mapping, immersive exhibitions, and interactive art.
Speaker A
To cover them all, we need expertise in programming, engineering, high-performance equipment, and specialized construction, four core technical skills.
Speaker A
That's why a-media has its own dedicated Art-Tech team. When the tech is flawless, the art begins to speak.
Speaker A
Our Cheongdam Eterno media facade show was the first private media art performance ever held on the Han River. Breaking through tough regulations, turning the impossible into reality, that process itself was both a work and an art.
Speaker A
a-perform is more than just a performance production company. "Our goal is simple—when people think of K-Performance, they think of us first." That's what drives this label.
Speaker A
We bring tradition into today. We highlight the beauty of Korea, while embracing modern technology and stage direction. We preserve the essence and aesthetics of tradition while making it resonate with today's audience. That's the kind of performance we create.
Speaker A
One of our showcases is called "Light, Dance and Drum (K: LDD)."
Speaker A
It blends light, dance, and drum, a performance that is uniquely Korean. Traditional Korean percussion has always been closely tied to Korean dance. It's more than just rhythm, every movement carries beauty. But at night, with limited light, that delicate beauty is hard to see.
Speaker A
So we visualized the drummers' movements using LED trons so even in the dark, the beauty of Korean traditional performance shines through effectively.
Speaker A
Of course, our performances aren't limited to the stage. Take the Genesis G70 commercial, for example. The key message was the car's dynamic performance.
Speaker A
The spinning wheels reminded us of a traditional Korean dance move, the sangmo spin. So we collaborated with traditional artist Kangil Lee, adding a modern twist to the sangmo spin, to capture the G70's agile and free driving spirit through movement rooted in tradition.
Speaker A
Visually and conceptually, it was a powerful and well-received project.
Speaker A
Art usually needs a canvas. Paintings should be able to exist anywhere, and sculptures should be able to stand anywhere.
Speaker A
That's why we named our art label a-ground—ground meaning everywhere. It reflects our vision to turn every space into a canvas and a gallery. That's our mission.
Speaker A
a-ground is pioneering a new frontier in art. By combining traditional forms like painting and sculpture with fresh techniques and unique materials, we explore new experimental expressions.
Speaker A
We move beyond the clichés of commercial art to break free from the ordinary. At the same time, we introduce new forms that can captivate the market. Most importantly, we ask: how can the audience's visual experience expand? And that's the possibility we keep exploring.
Speaker A
Despite the pressure, it was an exciting venture with high expectations.
Speaker A
I felt like I was being treated.
Speaker A
There are countless video production companies. But not every video becomes art.
Speaker A
a-film doesn't just record video, we create films that carry both message and beauty. That's why we call it film.
Speaker A
From planning to shooting, editing, and post, we shape each work to stand as an art piece in itself. We create music videos and performance films, content that's overtly artistic, but also commercial and public works, like brand films or campaign videos. And in every case, we ask: how do we infuse art into it?
Speaker A
Through narrative, rhythm of perspective, scene density, and texture, carefully designed—a video becomes more than information or record. It becomes an insight. A moment where message meets beauty—that's the kind of art film we create at a-film.
Speaker A
a-lab is the newest label under aplan-company, a research lab and testbed for new forms of art. It's where we experiment with new artistic methods without the limits of convention. Here, art isn't bound by commercial purpose, it starts with deeper, fundamental questions.
Speaker A
For artists who want to break free from clichés, a-lab projects become a source of inspiration. a-lab works around three pillars.
Speaker A
First, experimental and artistic creation, exhibitions, festivals, and large-scale works.
Speaker A
Second, the Artist Lab—discovering, connecting, and curating collaborative creations.
Speaker A
Third, Artwork—linking results born in creation to commercial streams. These three branches exist to balance artistry and sustainability.
Speaker A
We believe art is not just consumed, it's made together by creators and the audience. This belief fuels our original IP development.
Speaker A
This belief fuels our original IP development.
Speaker A
We've already created IPs like a:museum and a:kailo, our first steps in exhibition and performance. And now, we're preparing new projects—a:forest and a:street.
Speaker A
Why do we experiment with the structure of art, why do we design this process? For one reason: "What is art?"
Speaker A
Because we believe that question is still alive.
Speaker A
People often ask me, "Mr. Kim, what is art?"
Speaker A
It's not an easy thing to define. But I believe everyone, without words, instinctively knows what art is.
Speaker A
When we stand before something and say: "Wow... this is art." That reaction—it comes from a place deep inside, a feeling we can't explain. That is art.
Speaker A
And aplan-company is here to create that very feeling, as a global collective of artists.
Speaker A
When creators need art, when artists want to join a project, and when people want to experience it, aplan-company is the place where all three moments meet.
