SozAI ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.
Information We Collect
Personal Information
We collect information that you provide directly to us, including email address, name, and account credentials when you create an account.
Audio Content
We process audio files and recordings that you upload or record using our app for transcription purposes. This content is stored securely and used solely for providing our services.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about your device, including IP address, device type, operating system, app usage statistics, and crash reports.

Data Retention
We retain your personal information and transcriptions for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can delete your data at any time through the app settings.

Our services are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
Voice Translation Service
Speech Recognition Data
When you use the Voice Translate feature, your spoken audio is processed for speech recognition (converting speech to text). This processing occurs as follows:
- On iOS devices: Speech recognition is performed on-device using Apple's Speech framework. Audio data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Apple may process speech data according to their own privacy policy when on-device models are unavailable.
- On Android devices: Speech recognition is performed using Google's Speech Recognition service. Audio data is processed by Google according to their privacy policy. We do not store or retain any audio recordings.
In both cases, SozAI does not store, record, or retain any voice or audio data. Audio is processed in real time and discarded immediately after transcription.
Translation Data
The text transcribed from your speech is sent to Google Cloud Translation API for translation into the target language. This means:
- The text of what you said (not the audio) is transmitted to Google for translation.
- Google processes this text according to their Cloud Privacy Notice.
- Translated text is returned to your device and displayed in the conversation view.
- We do not store conversation logs on our servers. Conversation history is stored locally on your device only.
Language Models
Voice Translate downloads speech recognition language models to your device for on-device processing. These models are stored locally and do not transmit any data. You can delete downloaded models at any time through the app settings.
Browser extensions and the SozAI web service
This section covers the SozAI browser extensions — Transcribe Audio to Text: Voice & Meetings, Voice to Text for WhatsApp, YouTube Transcript and Speech to Text: Voice Typing & Dictation — and the transcription service they use at api.sozai.app. Where it differs from the sections above, which describe the mobile application, this section governs the extensions and the web service.
What we collect
- An anonymous device identifier. On first use the extension generates a random identifier in your browser and creates an account with it, so that you can transcribe without registering. It is not derived from anything about you or your device.
- Your email address — only if you sign in. Signing in with Google is optional and exists so your minutes and transcripts follow you across devices and apps. We receive and store your email address, and the name and profile picture if your account provides them. We never receive your password.
- The audio you choose. The file you upload, the recording you make with your microphone, or — in the WhatsApp extension — the voice message whose “Transcribe” button you press. Nothing is captured until you act.
- The text produced from it — the transcript, and the summary if you asked for one.
- The address of the video you choose to transcribe, in the YouTube extension. That extension sends no audio and no page content.
- Technical data. Our servers see your IP address, as any web server does. We keep it only as a salted, irreversible hash, and only to limit how many free accounts and requests can come from one network. It cannot be turned back into an address and is not used to locate you.
What we do not collect
The extensions do not read the pages you browse, your browsing history, your keystrokes or your clipboard. They contain no advertising or analytics software. Speech to Text: Voice Typing & Dictation sends nothing to us at all — the recognition is performed by your browser.
How your data is used and who processes it
Your audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our servers for one purpose: producing your transcript. To do that we use processors who act on our instructions — AssemblyAI for speech recognition and OpenRouter for summaries and the chat feature. Our servers are hosted with Hetzner in Germany and are reached through Cloudflare. If you subscribe, the purchase is handled by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat, and the extensions themselves take no payments and receive no payment details.
We do not sell your data, do not share it for anyone else’s marketing, and do not use your recordings or transcripts to train models.
How long it is kept
Your audio and transcripts stay in your SozAI library so you can return to them, and are kept until you delete them. Deleting a transcript in the extension or the app removes the recording along with it. To delete your account and everything in it, write to [email protected] from the address you signed in with, or ask us from an anonymous account and we will remove it by its identifier.
Your choices
You can use the extensions without an account, sign out at any time, delete individual transcripts, or ask us to delete everything. Removing an extension from Chrome deletes the identifier and the session stored in your browser; ask us if you also want the transcripts on our side removed.
