How it works
Meeting Recording to Text in three steps
Drop the recording
Zoom's audio_only.m4a, a Teams or Meet audio export, or a phone recording from the room. The browser keeps the first 5 minutes.
Speakers are separated
Each participant is labelled with a timestamp. Language detected automatically.
Turn it into minutes
Copy the text or download a .txt. Summaries and action items come from the app.
Minutes without the note-taker
Somebody in every meeting is half-listening because they are writing. A transcript lets that person take part, and gives everyone else a record that says who committed to what. This page turns the first 5 minutes of a recording into text so you can judge the result on your own meeting audio — the accents, the crosstalk, the speakerphone — before running the whole hour through the app.
Getting the audio out of the meeting tool
Zoom saves an audio-only file (audio_only.m4a) next to the video when local recording is on. Microsoft Teams recordings land in OneDrive or SharePoint as MP4; the audio track inside is accepted here, but a full meeting video is usually far over the size limit, so export or extract the audio first. Google Meet recordings go to Drive as MP4 with the same caveat. A phone on the table recording a room meeting produces an .m4a that drops straight in.
What the preview does
Your browser reads the file and keeps the first 5 minutes, cutting longer recordings locally and re-encoding that part as 16 kHz mono WAV. The audio goes over an encrypted connection to the transcription engine behind the SozAI app (AssemblyAI). The language is detected automatically across 99 languages, and each participant who speaks gets a label with a timestamp — Speaker A, Speaker B — consistent through the transcript. When the text is on your screen, the audio and transcript are deleted at the provider.
Formats and limits
- M4A, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG/OPUS, WEBM and the audio track of MP4, up to 25 MB as-is. Longer recordings are trimmed to 5 minutes in the browser first (up to 30 MB on a computer, 12 MB on a phone).
- Three previews per device per day, no account.
- Remote participants on a laptop microphone transcribe better than a conference-room speakerphone; both work.
The whole meeting, plus the action items
An hour of meeting is twelve previews. The SozAI app records or imports the full session, keeps the speaker labels, and writes a summary with decisions and action items you can paste into the follow-up email. Every meeting stays in a searchable library. The first 30 minutes are free.
Answers
Meeting transcription — frequently asked questions
Can I upload the Zoom or Teams video file?
The audio track of an MP4 is accepted, but a full meeting video is usually 100 MB or more — over the limit. Use Zoom's audio_only.m4a, export audio from Teams or Meet, or run the video through the app instead.
Does it know who is speaking?
It separates voices and labels them Speaker A, Speaker B and so on, consistently through the transcript. It does not know names; you assign them afterwards. Participants who never speak do not appear.
How long a meeting can I preview?
Any length, but you get the first 5 minutes. Files up to 25 MB are sent whole; longer ones are cut to 5 minutes in your browser before upload, up to 30 MB on a computer and 12 MB on a phone.
Is the recording stored?
No. It is transcribed over an encrypted connection and deleted at the provider together with the transcript as soon as the result is delivered. This site keeps nothing.
What about meetings in two languages?
The language is detected automatically across 99 languages, one per file. A meeting that switches languages mid-way is transcribed in the language that dominates the first 5 minutes.
Does the preview produce a summary or action items?
No — the preview returns the transcript. The SozAI app generates a summary, decisions and action items from the full meeting.
Can I record a meeting with my phone and use that?
Yes. A phone in the middle of the table produces an .m4a that transcribes well for the people near it. For hybrid meetings, the laptop microphone picking up remote voices is usually clearer than the room.
Do I need to tell people I am recording?
Yes. Recording consent laws vary by country and state, and most workplaces require announcing it. Transcription does not change the obligation.
The whole recording, not just the first minutes
