Anatomy of the locomotor system. In this video, we will discuss the muscles of the head. We will talk about the intrinsic muscles of the head, that is, those that originate in the skull and insert into the skull. There are two types of intrinsic muscles of the skull: the mimetic muscles and the masticatory muscles. The mimetic muscles function to generate facial expressions, which is useful for communication.
