You can look, [music] but no touch. Okay, well, I'm going to go. Yeah, you should go.
Speaker A
Excuse me? Do I need to report you? No, be ridiculous. I'm on my way home.
Speaker A
Why? Am I distracting you? You're lost, Miss America. No, I'm not. I'm going to go.
Speaker A
What are you doing? Are you stalking me? Oh, yes. You made such a strong impression that I would not [music] meet at the beach, and I just couldn't stay away.
Speaker A
Are you always such a creep? Creep? Mhm. You know, actually, I was worried about you.
Speaker A
Hello, big spender. Directions to the Marisma Hotel. You can hold it, so you know I'm not about to murder you.
Speaker A
You know, good-looking men murder women. Although, they're usually quite charming, [music] so I guess that rules you out.
Speaker A
That way. It was that way. [laughter] So, you [music] think I'm good-looking? Come on.
Speaker A
And I wasn't [music] staring at you earlier. I was just studying everyone. Got you. It's like a, like a croissant.
Speaker A
Much better. Much better. If you want, maybe we could go and get something to eat.
Speaker A
Here you are. Thank you. Yeah. Are you sure you're okay? Yeah. Yeah? I'm fine. I'm just... What do you think is buying the I love Mallorca t-shirts or the keychains, you?
Speaker A
I'm so glad that you know what's best for the people of Mallorca. Put this on.
Speaker A
Are we running from people? I'll explain later. How long have you been here? One day.
Speaker A
Mhm. Yeah, but my mom is from here. Is that so? Mhm. You couldn't stay away for more than two minutes?
Speaker A
No, I just like my phone back. Thanks. Hola señorita. But it's not just the brown.
Speaker A
At least you're learning the language. You're a fisherman? Mhm. The fisheries on our island are suffering because of the tourism [music] and the commercial companies are hurting the island.
Speaker A
Are you okay? What happened? More people could mean progress. Destroying family businesses doesn't feel like progress.
Speaker A
Well, if you need your money, okay? I'm afraid to help. So, what about you?
Speaker A
I'm a dancer. Exotic? I didn't call you because I'm not safe to be around. Until things are settled with Carlos, I just... And dance is the only thing that gives it [music] meaning.
Speaker A
Then why did you stop? 'Cause it's not up to me anymore. Don't worry. I don't scare that easily.
Speaker A
I'm sorry. My problems probably sound so trivial. No, no, it's okay. I mean, rich girls can be sad, too.
Speaker A
What are you doing? Come on. I like you, Moriah. I could help you if you could swim.
Speaker A
I can swim. I'm only here for a little while. Are we wasting time? This is so beautiful.
Speaker A
Yeah. Very beautiful. I just wanted to make you take your clothes off this time.
Speaker A
You good back there? Yeah. Why are you going in? This is good. This summer I wanted to try new things, you know.
Speaker A
It feels like it's the last summer I'll ever have. Mhm. Mhm. That's a good way to live. [music] Mhm.
Speaker A
Oh my god. This is just the beginning. So, what's next on your list? Go to bed without brushing your teeth?
Speaker A
Never. Unbelievable. Or to make out with a hot stranger? I could pretend you're hot.
Speaker A
That's a lot of responsibility. There's the weight of a hundred-year-old business on my [music] father's shoulders.
Speaker A
This is where you live? Yep. I've been living on this boat for so long.
Speaker A
Was your mom ever around? She... She died when I was little. I'm sorry. Why should I die if we can't [music] eat them?
Speaker A
You're a natural. Good job. I don't think I've ever smelled this bad in my whole life.
Speaker A
Let's clean up then. Everything okay? Mhm. Yeah. Are there sharks in there? Of course. It's the sea.
Speaker A
Come on. You look beautiful. You know you're not that moody. I thought you didn't scare easily. And now we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor. This [music] is the best fish you'll ever try.
Speaker A
Oh my god, it is really good. See? Mhm. It was like sweet and buttery.
Speaker A
And good for you, too. You really love what you do, don't you? What's not to love?
Speaker A
I get to live on the sea, Mhm, work alongside my family. Can I talk to [music] you about something? I've never even met my dad.
Speaker A
Really? Yeah. He's a businessman from Texas that couldn't be bothered. But, my mom [music] is awesome.
Speaker A
She left Mallorca to pursue the American dream. Can we just have one day where we forget it all?
Speaker A
What she's accomplished is pretty amazing. She's had a lot of success and peace. It just surprises me sometimes what Americans define as success. I don't know. Look at our lives here. Sure, we have problems, [music] but we are more than happy with what we
Speaker A
have. What else could we want? [music] Even Miss America ended up on my boat.
Speaker A
Sometimes you just [music] have to enjoy what you have while you have it. Do you trust me?
Speaker A
Yeah. Turn off the light. Does that make sense? More than you know. This is my favorite feeling.
Speaker A
This place is so rich. It really made me think about where I want to be.
Speaker A
You just melt into everything [music] around you. It helps me forget about the problems when the lights are on. There's never been anywhere else on earth I want to be than right here. It's good to face your fears, Soraya.
Speaker A
How else can you overcome them? This is where we met. [music] Right here. [music] You got that off of me.
Speaker A
Are you hurt? I have tuberous sclerosis. You touch her again, I'll kill you. You [music] understand?
Speaker A
What? What can we do? Is there... Is there a treatment? Yes and no. You okay?
Speaker A
You okay? You sure? I'm okay. Medication helps, but [music] it's never been consistent. And when I got here, I stopped taking it altogether.
Speaker A
Why? 'Cause it made me feel numb. But I don't want to feel numb anymore.
Speaker A
Is surgery an option? Yes, but there's too much risk. I could lose my memory.
Speaker A
So, would that be the worst thing? You would be healthy. Everything I know would be gone.
Speaker A
Why didn't you tell me any of this? Because I wanted [music] to figure it out.
Speaker A
Sitting in a dark cave with you. Because you make darkness feel peaceful. Losing those memories, and the ability to make new ones, that's worse than death.
Speaker A
I love you, Raya. Can we stay up tonight? Mhm. I've never seen the sunrise.
Speaker A
From the water. I love you, too. I can get you the best view in the house.
Speaker A
Mhm. Mhm. I feel like I could touch him. Someone I used to know. I wonder, will fate keep following me here?
Speaker A
What I once thought would be my last summer, my first and last sunrise. Thank you for saving your first sunrise for me.
Speaker A
You can have all my firsts and all my lasts. Hola. I'm Julian.
