Popular Books On Tik Tok & My Opinions On Them

So if you didn't know, I happened to be part of BookTalk Larry Reads. You know, go follow me on there. So I figured that I have the right to talk about this. Okay, I have all the right. Sometimes the coffee goes straight to the brain cells, you know what I mean? Wait, wait, before anything gets done today, have y'all met PJ Rex? Yes, he is named after Percy Jackson. Ready to meet his mate, his best mate of all, Aaron Sharkford? Yes, he is named after Aaron Blackford. No further questions. We've got PJ Rex and we've got Aaron Sharkford, the best of buds, and then we've got me, Larissa. If you're new here, this probably looks a little weird. Give me a chance, I promise I get better. If you're not new here, you're used to this. I'm Larissa. If you don't know, hi besties. Let's just get started, shall we? Oh my gosh, so [expletive] good, I feel alive. We're gonna do something very fun today. I, um, have been editing the reading vlogs. I promise that the Risk reading vlog is coming, and so is Ricochet. Those are both on their way, but reading vlogs do take an insane amount of time to edit. So while you're waiting for those reading vlogs to come, I figured that I would do something quite fun, if you ask me, and that is going through popular TikTok books and telling you my honest opinions about that. Now, I picked 10 books that are fairly popular on different sides of BookTalk. So I have some romance, I have some mystery, I have some YA, different books that I have read, not necessarily I read them because of BookTalk, because some of these I actually just read, um, because I found them at the store, but then they became popular on BookTalk. Right now, they're just very talked about, whatever popular books on TikTok. Let me tell you my honest opinion about all of these. If you enjoy this, then maybe I'll do a part two. I'm not gonna be giving any spoilers to any of these books, so don't worry. I will just be telling you a little bit of what they're about and then what I think about it. If there's gonna be any spoilers coming up, I will tell you so that you can skip. Okay, are we picking up what I'm putting down? I'll tell you and then you skip it. All right? Okay, so let's start off with a book that I would feel like is one of the most popular books on TikTok, and that is Red, White & Royal Blue. You've probably read this. If you have not, what are you doing? So essentially, this book follows Alex. It's told in his point of view, and it is in third person, which is not my favorite thing, but for this book, it's totally fine because I will do anything for this book. Alex's mom is the president of the United States, so he is the first son, and he happens to have a little feud with a British prince, Henry. They have not gotten along ever since they met, and essentially it all comes down to like a big, big brawl that happens at a wedding where they destroy this cake because they're fighting and just not getting along, and it looks bad for British and U.S. relations for these two very powerful people to not be getting along. So all their public relations teams insist that they have to become friends or at least pretend to be friends for the public. They have to go on like these friend dates and pretend that they're the best bros. This book goes from enemies to fake friendship to actual friendship to lovers. That's like the arc of this book. Having these two very big people be in this secret relationship causes a lot of turmoil for British relations and for the U.S. That's very talked about in this book, the politics of all of that. I loved this book. I loved it. I was very skeptical going into it because I wasn't sure if I was gonna be interested in the idea of politics fiction in books. I wasn't sure, but I, oh my god, I gave this book five stars. I absolutely adored it. It was not only so, so freaking cute, romantic, it was also hilarious. Like Alex is one of the funniest main characters I've ever seen, and Henry was also so funny. That made this book so enjoyable. There was not a single character in this book I didn't like. Even the side characters are absolutely amazing. Alex's sister and Alex's best friend should have their own books. If you're watching this, Casey, my girl, um, write that. It says in the front, "True love isn't always diplomatic." I love this book so much, and I even cried at the end, tears, actual tears, not because it was sad, but because it was so cute. The quotes in this book are amazing. I could not recommend this book enough. It has the hype for a reason. Trust me, read it. Like especially this quote right here, y'all. The fact that I opened right to the page just goes to show how often I open this page. I love this quote right here: "Thinking about history makes me wonder how I'll fit into it one day. I guess history, huh? That we could make." Sound history, huh? That we could make some. I'm gonna get that tattooed on me. I already wrote it down. I've been thinking about this for a while. I love that quote. It just fits them in this book so much. History, huh? That we could make. So I love it. Oh my god, yes, go read this book. So next up, to counter Red, White & Royal Blue, we're gonna do We Were Liars. I solely read this book because of BookTalk. I just saw it so much on my For You page that I just got like engraved in my memory, and people were crying so much, and they were saying that the twist is insane. So I was like, you know what? Give it a try, why not? I think that the less you know about this book going into it, the better. I went into it completely blind, and I loved that. But I do that with a lot of books. I don't read the back of books usually. I just pick it up and I read it because I feel like that's the magic. But I'll tell you what it says in the back. It just says, "If anyone asks you how it ends, just lie. We are Sinclairs. We live, at least in the summertime, on a private island off the coast of Massachusetts. Perhaps that's all you need to know, except that some of us are liars." I'm not going to tell you anything else because if you are going to read this book, please go into it fully blind. That's gonna be a way for you to enjoy it. Just know that it follows this family, the Sinclairs, and it goes through their summer. That's all I will say. But my opinion on it is that I absolutely [expletive] hate it. I'm so sorry. I would definitely say for you to form your own opinions on this book because some people love this book. It just was not for me. It's only 250 pages, so I would say it's so worth it to just read it. I read it in a couple hours. This is not a romance book, by the way. I would say this is more of like a casual mystery. It has a little bit of romance in it, but not too much. I would rate it like one or two stars. I did not like this book at all, and let me tell you why. A little bit of a spoiler right here, so skip it if you need to. But this book reminded me of The Uninvited. If you've watched The Uninvited, the movie, the ending is basically what this book is. So I was not shocked, and I feel like maybe if I hadn't watched that movie, I would have enjoyed this book a lot more because the ending is quite shocking, like the ending is unexpected and the twist is amazing. I just have seen that twist before, so I didn't get that affected by this. And then to be honest, I did not care for the main character, so whatever happened to her, I was like, whatever. Like if she lives, if she dies, if she falls in love, or if she lives alone, I just did not care. I didn't connect to her, and that's a big thing for me with books. I like to connect to the characters, and since I did not connect to her story, and then I did not care for the plot, and then the twist I saw coming because of The Uninvited, I kind of just did not care for this book at all. But I would say that you should probably read it so that you can form your own opinions. Some people love it, like I said. Not for me, though. Next up, we've got the queen herself, Miss Colleen Hoover. So let me tell you about No.

though next up we've got the queen herself miss colleen hoover so let me tell you about november 9th i've told you guys about colleen hoover before you know she's one of my favorite authors of all time mariana zapata and colleen

hoover on my entire life this book kind of like we were liars i would say all of colleen you should go into it blind because she does have twists in all her books and they're all pretty shocking this one follows fallon and ben is in

duo pov so you get both of their stories so family meets ben and he is a novelist and he's writing this book and so they decide that they're going to make this romance story for him to be able to

write about but it has to be interesting it can't just be any kind of romance story so they decide they're going to meet every year for several years on november 9th and that's when their relationship is going to happen on

november 9th only on that day other days they cannot even contact each other they cannot look at each other's social media nothing like that and they can do whatever they want for the rest of the year on that one day they're together

though and that's the story he's writing i'm not gonna tell you anything else about this book because like i said colleen hoover you should definitely go into it please blind search up trigger warnings for all her books for sure but

with this one let me tell you my thoughts it is not my favorite i did enjoy it that's the thing i liked it i didn't love it though i liked ben and fallon separately but i did not like

them together i did not like their relationship i would say that colleen's most popular books on book talk are these four it ends with us for sure i would say ugly love verity and november 9th these are the four books that are

the most talked about i adore it ends with us in ugly love and then verity just like [ __ ] me up but november 9th man i just i i wanted to love it so bad but i just

didn't but on november 9th i am gonna reread it because i do want to see if i maybe just overlooked it or something like that because i was reading so many calling books in a row i read this one

right after i read it ends with us and ugly love so maybe since it just didn't live up to it i didn't read it properly i'm not sure i am going to give it another chance i would say definitely

read it i still liked it i just didn't love it if i'm being honest the hype that this book gets i feel like should instead be given to all your perfects and hopeless by calling hoover i feel like these two are so

good and to be honest more underrated from her catalog all your perfects is literally the most amazing book i've ever read and hopeless is so underrated like yeah i know the cover is not the best i don't like it but it is so good

it is amazing and i feel like it does so much more than november 9th does i feel like it should be getting the hype that this does i don't know but like i said i am gonna try to reread this i would say

you should probably still read it just read all of colleen's books honestly there's about to be one that you're not really that much of a fan of because that's how it is with every author you know you read all their books there's

gonna be one that's your least favorite there has to be and this would be my least favorite even though i still enjoyed it spoiler coming up for november 9th skip this skip this and go to the next book if you have not read

this i just like arson you know what i mean like ben the arsonist literally i just don't understand how people can love them together when he literally burned her house down like yes it was an accident completely get that especially because of the

circumstances that he was going through i completely understand that but if he would have done that accident and then when he saw that there was somebody in the house if he would have came and turned himself in and like

tried to help her through the whole time i would have loved that love story but because he waited until so late and she was already so self-conscious she was having a horrible relationship with her dad mostly because of this fire

and then she only finds out at the end i i'm sorry i cannot i cannot vouch for this relationship i do not like it i do not and you know what like i could forgive the arson if you would have told

her sooner if you would have turned himself in if it would have been that way i would have vibed with this because i love them separately but i just cannot love them together so next up is another one that i would say is one of the most

popular ones on there and that is the hating game sally thorne this book is becoming a movie soon and i am so nervous i feel like it's either going to be absolutely amazing or it's going to be so so bad i'm very scared so this

book follows josh and lucy and they are co-workers and they happen to hate each other yes the hating game and they're up for the same promotion it starts off with them like doing these little games like they play these little

games all the time trying to beat each other at absolutely everything even the silliest of games they need to win now they're up for the same promotion and things get a little more heated than usual and both of them refuse to back

down this book is from lucy's point of view so you don't get josh's point of view i wish you did but you don't and it is in first person i love this book i love this book i do not care what you

say about this book yes there were moments that were a little bit cheesy um especially a certain thing that happens in the end is a little bit either cute or a little bit creepy i'm not really sure like the vibes of what

happens at the end you've read this book you know what i'm talking about the wall right but it's a book so like in the book it's cute you know real life it would probably be creepy but that's how it is with every

romance book so let's be honest i rated it five stars just like red white and royal blue it is one of my favorite books it just makes me feel so comforted i absolutely love joshua templeman everything about this book is

astonishing to me i love it if you like enemies to lovers in a rom-com kind of way i would say these books for you going for a completely different side of books on tick tock for a thriller instead then

she was gone by lisa jewell so this book follows this mom laurel mac and her daughter ellie who just disappears one day she is there and the next she is gone so ellie disappears right and it's 10 years later and her mom laurel is

putting her life back together when she meets this man and this man's daughter happens to remind her a lot of her daughter ellie and she's faced with trying to figure out what happened to ellie and how she disappeared because

it's been 10 years and she still doesn't know what happened to ellie and where did she go and did someone take her did she run away is she dead is she alive what's the deal that's what this book goes into it is

told from laura's point of view third person though sorry um well you might like third person i don't but you might but then it has some chapters where it flashes to the past from ellie's point of view i really liked that about this

book but other than that i hated everything else about it i gave this book a two star rating i did not like it and let me tell you why thrillers for me have to be thrilling that's the whole point of a thriller and

that's the whole point of a mystery is the mystery with this book i felt like every single thing that i thought would happen is exactly what happened there's no twist there's no big aha moment you just kind of read this story this very

sad story about this girl ellie and her mom laurel that's it if you're going into this book expecting a sad story i would say you're probably gonna love it but if you go into this book expecting a thriller expecting a mystery expecting a

big big twist this book is probably not for you it's probably gonna be the same thing as me where you're just let down yeah no it's a no for me this book is very popular on thriller's side of tick

tock um it's one of lisa jewell's most popular books on there and i just no now that we did a thriller why don't we go back to a romance and do punk 57 why not that'll be douglas if you know

me you know i love this book you know you've seen me talk about it you probably know i love it it follows misha and ryan told from both point of views they are pen pals and they have never

met they have been pen pals for a year pen pals pen pals they have been pen pals for years and they have never met and then one day they meet and they hate each other there's a lot going on in

this book this book is spicy this book is funny this book has a playlist and y'all know how much i love me some book playlists like hold up wait a minute y'all look at this look at this can you

see that yes or no oh my god i love it this is amazing this playlist is astonishing penelope douglas did the damn thing with this book i love it i love it i tapped every single part i love michelaire with all my heart and

soul i loved ryan's character development in this book i did not like her at first to be honest but i did love the arc of her character coming full circle i loved misha the entire time i loved their little bully kind of romance

penelope douglas usually goes for bully style romances and i love that like yes yes treat me like a little [ __ ] i live for it and look at the front y'all we were perfect together until we met ah

okay yes and once you find out why this book is called punk 57 amazing amazing i love this book five stars if you're new to like spicy romances i would start with this book it's like relatively tame compared to some other

spicy romances i would say this is a very great introduction definitely 18 plus but yes read this book next up one of us is lying i feel like this book made its way through tick tock for a while and then it kind of stopped

there's a show coming out on peacock about this book i'm excited to watch that this book i would say is like pretty little liars meets the breakfast club type of vibe this book is about detention well not about the detention it's about

five students in detention you've got brown who is the brains she is the smartest one out of all of them you've got nate who is the criminal he's the outlaw you know the morally gray type of character you've got cooper who is the

athlete of the group you know mr popularity you've got addie who is the beauty the homecoming queen you know and then you have simon who is the outcast who doesn't fit in anywhere but he has a gossip website at the school and he

writes about everybody and these five kids walk into detention but only four walk out alive because simon dies in detention simon's death is ruled a murder and so all four of these kids are suspect of who killed this simon kid

especially because all four of them had secrets that simon knew about that they did not want uncovered so who did it and why i did enjoy this book a lot i'm excited to see the show it's one of

those books that is mostly just like a fun one i wouldn't go into it expecting so so much but i did have a great time i think i rated it four stars at the end when you figure out who did it i was not

impressed and i was not shocked or anything like that but i still definitely enjoyed it there is a little bit of romance in this book and i loved the romance in it there's also a second book called one of us is next i didn't

include it in this because that one's not popular on tick tock but if you want me to talk about it eventually i can i did definitely enjoy it i didn't love love love it but i liked it it was good

i think this is a very fun read for when you're just in the mood for a little bit of everything this one's a good one next up we've got a fantasy for my fantasy lovers shadow and bone lee bardugo so i read

shadow and bone before the show came out specifically because i wanted to read it before the show this is a trilogy i'm only gonna be talking about shadow and bone in this video and i'm not gonna be talking about six of crows in that

duology and all that only this book so this book is a little bit hard to explain to be honest if you know fantasy you know that fantasy tends to get a little complicated but explaining it a little bit without giving too much away

you have this land ravka right where all these people live at you have these ordinary people there and you have these people called grisha they're essentially soldiers of the second army and they control elements so you have like

different categories of grisha that control different elements you have like the heart renders and the healer grishas who control the living and the dead you have squalors in fernie and the tide makers who are like the summoners they

control like fire and water like summoners of those elements so basically you just have a bunch of grishas who do different things in the small sciences you follow alina in this book alina starkov it is told from her point of

view and she is this girl who thinks she is normal until she is going on a trek through the shadowfold the shadowfold is like this dark field in between some of the worlds that most people cannot make it through without dying she's on this

trek through the shadow fold and she like unleashes this magic that she had no idea she had and then she finds out that she is one of a kind of this grisha that nobody has seen before that it's

only believed to be true i didn't even know until her and so she's basically a threat to all the kingdoms people fight her and fight for her it just unleashes this mess essentially the magic she holds it especially unleashes a mess for

the lane who is the leader of this grisha shadowfold world and that's all i'm gonna say you should read this book if you want to find out more or watch the netflix show netflix show was amazing netflix show does combine the

shadow and bone trilogy and the six of crows duology i would say the six of crows duology would be more worth it to read than the shadow and bone trilogy but i did really enjoy this this book was very good i rated it four stars i

liked it a lot it was easy to read it was easy to understand i don't love the male love interest in this book to be honest do you have mal on here and i did not like him tv show mal yes a book

mouth no but yeah i would say this is worth it to be honest with you especially if you're new to fantasy this is a great introduction to it next up beach read emily henry this is a contemporary romance kind of like the

hating game this book is about january and augustus it is told from january's point of view first person so january and augustus were kind of academic rivals when they were in college and now it's been many years and they happen to

be neighbors for this house for the summer and they're both writers but january writes romance while augustus writes like a sci-fi type genre and they couldn't be any more different basically january always wants happy endings for her books and augustus

always looks for the thrill and like kills all his characters and they were academic rivals in college but now since they are neighbors for the summer and they are both on a writing block they decide to switch genres so january is

gonna write augustus genre and then he's gonna write her genre and for them to be able to do that they take each other on little adventures so the other person could understand the genre better so she takes him on like romantic dates like

carnivals and drive-in movies and he takes her on like interviews with people about cult leaders and stuff like that so they can better write that novel and then whoever writes the better novel wins essentially this book was very good

i adore this book i adore anything emily henry writes to be honest but this book was so good i rated it 4 to 4.5 stars only because this book does focus a lot on january's dad and her relationship with

him he didn't love those parts to be honest but i loved everything else it was amazing it was so good it had some taylor swift references first of all amazing second of all january and gus are both so lovable gus is one of the

best book boyfriends i've ever seen this book is so good i would read this book in the summer by the beach yes be treated last book of today's video is a book that if you are anywhere on book talk

you have seen it so obviously i have to talk about it and that is the invisible life of addy larue by b schwab i would go as far as to say that it is the most popular book on take talk

you've probably heard people talk about it everywhere this book i feel like people have very mixed opinions you either love it or you hate it this book is basically about this girl addy larue who wants to live a life that she'll

remember she wants to live this big life and do big things and meet a bunch of people and have that life that she'll never regret but in the time that she's at women are not really allowed to live besides you know get

married find a husband like go through that route and she didn't want that so she makes a deal with like a dark god and he tells her that he's gonna give her a life to remember but there's a

saying in this book that goes never pray to the gods that answer after dark because obviously it was a little bit of a trick this dark god answers her prayers and he gives her immortality so she can live forever now except no one

will remember her everyone she comes across forgets her after that moment until one day she walks into this coffee shop meets this boy henry and he remembers her the next day and she's like how the hell did that happen and

that's essentially what this book is this book is beautiful i am one of the people that loved this book i rated it five stars i do think that you have to be in the mood for this book i think you

have to be ready because it is a little bit difficult to read especially if you're not used to reading yet i don't think this book would be a good one to start with but i think it's beautiful and i think that everyone should give it

a try you might love it or you might hate it but it's worth the try in the back it says a life no one will remember a story you will never forget the quotes in this book are astonishing i

highlighted most of this book because i love the quotes i think that's my favorite part it also is divided into several parts and it takes you through addie's whole life so you get to see so much let me read you one of my favorite

quotes from this book it says but a life without art without wonder without beautiful things she would go mad what she needs are stories stories are a way to preserve oneself to be remembered and to forget stories come in so many forms

in charcoal and in a song in paintings poems films and books books she has found are a way to live a thousand lives or to find strength in a very long one then i also love this quote there is
