As soon as he turned around, his breath stopped. The monster was standing right behind him. He knew this monster hunted only by sound, so running was useless. He immediately went completely still. He quickly looked around and spotted a plastic toy nearby. His hands were shaking, but he silently picked it up and threw it far away. As soon as the toy hit the ground, the soil started shaking. The monster instantly turned toward the sound. For a moment, its body emerged from the ground, then disappeared back into the dirt. This was the chance he had been waiting for. He signaled his dog and they quietly started moving toward the forest, but the ground behind him was still shaking. The monster was still following him. He rushed toward the trees, thinking their roots might slow it down, but when he looked back, he was terrified. The monster was moving through the dirt toward him at the same speed, as if nothing could stop it. Suddenly, his foot slipped and he fell beside the river. For a few moments, everything went dark. When he came to, his dog had already hidden inside a rotten hollow tree trunk. He quickly crawled inside, too, and held the dog tightly against his chest. He firmly covered its mouth so it wouldn't make a sound. Everything around them was completely silent, but that silence was the biggest danger. The very next moment, the ground right behind him started rising again. The monster was back, and this time it was even closer. He didn't move at all. His heart was pounding so hard that he feared the monster might even hear it. For a few moments, it felt like time had stopped. Then slowly, the ground became still. Every movement stopped. Maybe the monster had finally left. He breathed a sigh of relief, but still didn't dare move. Then his dog spotted its red cloth floating in the water. It couldn't hold back anymore. It broke free and ran outside. The moment it jumped into the water, its sound echoed through the entire forest. His face turned pale with fear. He knew the monster would come back, and this time it would come straight for him. Suddenly, the ground started shaking even faster than before. He immediately ran toward his bag. His hands were trembling as he quickly pulled out a grenade. The ground ahead was rising rapidly. It looked like the monster could burst out at any moment. He pulled the pin, paused for a second, and threw it with all his strength at the same spot. The next moment, a massive explosion tore through the area. Dirt, blood, and pieces of flesh flew into the air. The river turned red, and the force of the blast knocked him into the water. For a few moments, there was nothing but silence. Slowly, everything became still, but he still couldn't shake the feeling that the monster might be alive beneath the ground waiting for him.
