Questions about this video

Do I need any plugins to create this map animation?

No. The tutorial states that everything is done with native After Effects features, including effects like tint, drop shadow, fast box blur, and track mattes.

Where can I download free high-quality vector maps?

The tutorial recommends Vecteezy, Free Vector Maps, and Magnific (a Freepik service). Textures are sourced from Texture Labs.

Why should vector map layers be rasterized?

Rasterizing with the continuously rasterize option keeps border lines and map detail sharp even when the map is scaled up significantly.

So, let's see what we're going to create today. In 2027, there is a real chance that China will carry out its long-standing plan and attack Taiwan in an attempt to occupy its territory. But is this even possible? After all, in such a scenario, Taiwan's main ally, the United States, would come to its defense. This is because the US has its own interests in Taiwan, since all modern chips for global American companies are manufactured on this island. Ultimately, this would lead to a full-scale war between the US and China, two nuclear powers ready to use nuclear weapons to defend their interests. But we all know that after such a war, there would be no victors left.

Guys, please watch this part till the end because I have an important news and I want to be honest with you about something. The thing is that creating such big and detailed tutorials takes an insane amount of time and energy behind the scenes. Sometimes I spend the whole week or even more creating one high-quality tutorial, and it becomes really, really hard to continue working 24/7 without any income. That's why I decided to launch a $3 Patreon subscription. Don't worry, all the assets will remain free, so you can continue learning without any restrictions. But the project files for my tutorials, audio voiceovers, sound effects, audio tracks for my scenes from tutorials will be available in a pro editor access subscription. But that's only the beginning, because you will also get regular drops of templates, presets, sound effects, transitions, mini packs. And on your screen right now you can see an example of glitch text animation template that I've already prepared for my Patreon members.

As always, we start from creating a new comp, 1920 by 1080, 30 frames per second, 40 seconds long. Name this comp as main. Now go to my Patreon by the link in description and download all the assets for free for this tutorial. And don't forget that you can get the project file for this tutorial, audio voice over, the sound effects audio track for this scene, and all the future tutorials for only a $3 per month subscription to my Patreon. Also, the project file with sound effects audio track is available on my Gumroad if you don't want to use Patreon. All links you can find in the description. This is a huge support for me and will allow me to continue releasing tutorials. Thank you.

First, let's drag this world map vector to our comp, scale it down. So, we got this nice vector world map with borders and when you're working with vector layers, it's very important to always click on this continuously rasterize icon. In this case, the quality and detail of our map will remain at very high level even if we scale it too much. As you can see, the border lines and the map itself remain as detailed and clear as possible. Scale it down to around 33% and move this map up a little bit so that Australia and Latin America countries are visible. So, it's 960 on X position and 463.1 on Y position. It's very important for you to have the same values because later it will be much easier to follow me in this tutorial. So, make 960 on X position and 463.1 on Y position and 33% on scale. There are several services where you can download high-quality vector maps absolutely for free. The first one is Vecteezy. The second one is free vector maps. The third one is Magnific. It's Freepik service.

Drag this nice blue gradient to our comp. Scale it down to 32.5% and also click on this little square and start moving it up a little bit. In this case, we'll compress our gradient a little and it will become approximately equal in size to our composition. And by the way, I found this gradient on Magnific service by searching for blue radio gradient. Let's stylize our map and make it more dramatic. First of all, I want our map to be gray with black borders. So, apply a tint effect on it, click on swap colors, and change map black to gray color. Just type here C4 C4 C4 to select the exact color we need.

Okay, I also want to add some depth to our map. To do this, simply apply drop shadow, increase opacity to 100, and distance to four.

Vecteezy. The second one is free vector maps. The third one is Magnific. It's [music] XFreePik service.

Our next step is to add two textures above all the layers. First one is crumpled paper texture that I found on Texture Labs website. There are tons of different textures on this service and it's not just paper textures. There are also metal, fabric, glass, and many others. Drag this crumpled paper to our comp and place it above all the layers.

Scale it down to around 46% and also compress it a little bit by moving this little square slightly up. Now click on toggle switch modes here and change blending mode of this texture to overlay. Wow, it looks great. But I think it's too heavy, so let's press T on paper layer and decrease its opacity to 75%.

08:05
Speaker A
Now our map looks much more cinematic and stylish than before, but let's turn off these two texture layers for now by disabling this eye icon here because it will be much easier for us to work with this scene without textures. We'll definitely turn them on again when we are finished working on this scene. We can even click on toggle switch modes one more time, click on these icons and then on these to hide these textures from the layers panel window so that they don't distract us. We'll be creating our first camera movement very soon, so it's time to make our world map and gradient background 3D.
08:14
Speaker A
Now it looks better. Next, drag grunge texture from texture lab website to our comp and place it above all the layers.
08:24

Make sure classic 3D renderer is selected here and create a new camera. Type one node camera preset 28 mm.

After working with After Effects for a long time, I decided that these are the best settings for comfortable work with the camera. So, I use them in most cases. We'll control our camera using null objects. So, let's create a first one. Right click, new null object. Make it 3D, parent camera to it, and rename it to cam control.

window so that they don't distract us. We'll be creating our first camera movement very soon, so it's time to make our world map and gradient background 3D.
09:26

And using this cam control position, let's move closer to the China without creating any keyframes. This will be our starting point, around 650 on that position, and 1,390 on X position.

10:24

Awesome. We also need to add clouds through which our camera will later zoom into China and Taiwan. First, drag this flying through clouds green screen overlay to our comp, and place it above all the layers except camera and null.
10:43
Speaker A
Make it 3D and scale down to 29%. Adjust its position. To remove this green background, simply apply Keylight effect, and using pipette, select this green color. Also, move this clouds overlay on timeline to the left until you find this moment. So, this layer
11:05
Speaker A
should end around 20 seconds, 21 frames. And position this layer down a little bit, so our center of the screen is visible. Later, we'll add a text here.
11:20
Speaker A
I found this overlay on YouTube. Just search for clouds green screen or fly through clouds green screen, and you'll find a lot of cool assets. Then, drag green screen clouds overlay to our comp.
11:34
Speaker A
Place it on the first clouds layer, key light it. Change its scale to 29%, make it 3D, and adjust position.
11:47
Speaker A
As you see, these clouds layers looks different. So, let's make them look similar with a simple color correction. Okay, first of all, select green screen clouds layer and apply levels effect on it.
12:02
Speaker A
Decrease input black to minus 200. Copy this effect by control C and paste to fly through clouds layer by control V.
12:12
Speaker A
And before creating the first camera movement, we need to place the clouds in 3D space to create a parallax effect.
12:20
Speaker A
We'll move some clouds close to the camera, others a little further away. And our map will be behind the clouds, just like in real life.
12:32
Speaker A
To do this, select two views here, then click on this left window, and make sure it's set to top view. If not, here select top.
12:43
Speaker A
As you can see, now all the layers are on the same plane, [music] and we definitely don't need this. So, select fly through clouds layer [music] and move it closer to the camera on Z position to around minus 450.
13:01
Speaker A
Decrease its scale, so it fits our comp again. [music] Adjust its position. What about green screen clouds? Move this layer to minus 165 [music] on Z position. Decrease its scale, so it fits our comp again. As you can [music]
13:18
Speaker A
see, now all our layers are arranged in 3D space one after another. And [music] if we start moving the camera, we'll notice that the first clouds are approaching the camera faster, the second ones slower, [music] and the map even more slowly, just like
13:40
Speaker A
in real life. Let's go back to one view mode. It's time for the camera movements. Make sure you're at zero frame. Create position keyframe on cam control. [music] Now go to 2 seconds 11 frames and move a little bit closer to
13:58
Speaker A
our map to around [music] Great. Our slow camera movement is ready. The next [music] camera movement should bring us closer to China, and for this we need a new null object, but we don't need to create a new one because we can
14:19
Speaker A
[music] duplicate the current one. Just go to the last key of cam control one.
14:25
Speaker A
Duplicate this null by pressing control delete all keys on duplicated null and parent cam control one to cam control two. Go to 1 second 18 frames and create position plus X rotation keys on cam control two.
14:41
Speaker A
I wanted to make this camera movement more interesting, that's why I also created X rotation keys.
14:49
Speaker A
Now go to 3 seconds 20 frames, change X rotation to 18, and adjust the position in that way so we're closer to China.
15:00
Speaker A
And this country is in the center of the screen. Don't pay attention to the clouds. We'll deal with them a little later. We need to make this second camera movement more smooth.
15:14
Speaker A
And we'll do it by changing these keyframes speed graph. So select all these four keys on second cam control.
15:23
Speaker A
Press F9 to easy ease them. Then click on this icon and make sure the speed graph is selected here.
15:32
Speaker A
Now select this left [music] and right slider and move each of them to the center till 70% influence. So, our camera movement will start slow, then go fast here, and end slow again.
15:52
Speaker A
We also need to deal with the clouds. At 1 second 18 frames, create a position keyframe on flying through clouds layer.
16:01
Speaker A
Now, somewhere here, move this layer slightly down out of screen. And move this second key to 3 second 20 frames.
16:13
Speaker A
[music] Select them, press F9, create the same speed graph as before with a peak in the center and 70% influence [music] on both sliders.
16:27
Speaker A
What about second clouds layer? Create a position key on it at 1 second 25 frames. Go to 3 seconds 28 frames and move this layer on Z position so it goes through our camera. Select keys, F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the
16:46
Speaker A
center. And [music] also at the moment when camera goes really close to this second clouds, create opacity keyframe and couple frames forward decrease opacity to zero.
17:06
Speaker A
We don't need these clouds here at 3 seconds 28 frames, [music] so just cut these layers by pressing Alt plus right brackets on your keyboard.
17:17
Speaker A
And here I see a strange artifact of the clouds layer. And uh this levels effect causes it.
17:25
Speaker A
[music] So, let's lower levels on this green screen clouds layer to minus 250. Now, everything looks fine.
17:35
Speaker A
It's time to create this nice glitchy text. I want to say right away that we'll create this text effect once and then apply this effect to all other text in literally one click. We'll spend some time now, but then we won't have to make
17:55
Speaker A
new text animations. We'll create this glitch text in a new comp, so create a new comp, change this comp's duration to 10 seconds, and name it 2027.
18:09
Speaker A
Select some bold font. In my case, it's Impact Regular. You can find and download this font for free. Just search for it. My text size is 327 pixels. Type 2027 and change color to orange. Press control plus alt
18:29
Speaker A
[music] plus home to center our anchor point and then control plus home to center our text or press this align icon here. Also, make sure this central paragraph icon is selected. Let's create our first text animation. Open text
18:48
Speaker A
layer, animate, tracking. Create first tracking keyframe at zero frame. Increase [music] tracking amount to around 300. Create a second tracking key at 1 second 10 frames. Decrease amount to zero. Select keys, F9, and create this speed graph.
19:07
Speaker A
[music] Just drag this right slider to the center. So, our tracking will start fast and end slow. [music] Great.
19:17
Speaker A
Create a new black solid and name it fractal lines. Apply fractal noise effect on it. Change fractal type to dynamic here.
19:26
Speaker A
Increase contrast to 540. Decrease brightness to around minus 30 to make it black and white.
19:36
Speaker A
Then open transform and unselect uniform scaling. Set scale width to around 1,334 and scale height to 22. Also decrease complexity to two.
19:53
Speaker A
As I see, we have these nice lines. Go to zero frame and create an evolution keyframe. At 929, increase evolution to four.
20:05
Speaker A
Open evolution options and [music] at zero frame, create a random seed keyframe. At 929, [music] increase the random seed to 50.
20:16
Speaker A
Right now, we also need to animate our fractal brightness. At zero frame, create a brightness keyframe and set it to minus 327.
20:27
Speaker A
So, everything should be black. [music] At 1 second 10 frames, increase brightness to 393.
20:35
Speaker A
So, everything should be white. Then duplicate fractal lines layer and rename it to fractal blocks.
20:44
Speaker A
Here, set noise type to block. Also change scale width to 823 and scale height to 105.
20:55
Speaker A
Also change blending mode of fractal blocks to screen. Select two fractal layers, precomp them, and name fractal.
21:07
Speaker A
Now track my 2027 text to fractal and make sure you change this icon here to Luma.
21:16
Speaker A
You should have the same icon as me. The next step is to create a new adjustment layer and name it displace. Apply displacement map effect on it.
21:27
Speaker A
On the displacement map layer, select our fractal precomp. [music] Change this to luminance and this also to luminance. And set max horizontal to 75.
21:39
Speaker A
After that, duplicate this displacement effect by pressing Ctrl D and change max horizontal displacement to minus 75.
21:49
Speaker A
As you see, our glitchy animation is almost ready, but we need to do something else.
21:58
Speaker A
Create another new adjustment layer and name it stretch. Place it under displace adjustment. Apply CC scale wipe on it.
22:09
Speaker A
And for now, just disable visibility of displace adjustment. On CC scale wipe, change direction to 90 and set stretch to five.
22:20
Speaker A
And now, position a center point here at the right [music] middle near the end of right two number.
22:29
Speaker A
Go to 13 frames and create stretch keyframe. At 23 frames, decrease stretch to zero.
22:37
Speaker A
Select ease press of nine. [music] With selected stretch adjustment, select rectangle mask and create the same mask as I did. So, top part of the two and seven numbers should be masked.
22:52
Speaker A
And make sure this mask is long and goes to the right out of screen.
22:59
Speaker A
Switch this mask from add to subtract. With the help of this mask, we made only half of the text stretched and it looks awesome.
23:11
Speaker A
Now, duplicate stretch adjustment by control D. Change direction on duplicated stretch to minus 90. Double click on the mask and move it so it covers bottom part of 20 numbers. And it's very important to move the center point of this duplicated scale wipe to
23:32
Speaker A
the middle left near the start of zero number. Enable visibility of displace adjustment and let's see what we have.
23:43
Speaker A
Absolutely gorgeous. It looks even better than I expected. Let's make our text more stylish by adding some effects on it. First of all, apply gradient ramp.
23:54
Speaker A
[music] Start color orange. Here, you can type FF 8400 to select the best color in my opinion.
24:05
Speaker A
End color black. Place start of ramp point in the middle of the text and end of ramp point somewhere here at the bottom.
24:16
Speaker A
Next, apply bevel alpha effect. Edge thickness 2.3, light intensity 0.7. This effect will add some depth to our text. Finally, apply CC light sweep.
24:31
Speaker A
Change direction to minus 90. Place the center point in the center of the text.
24:37
Speaker A
Width 78. Awesome. In the future, we'll simply replace this text [music] with another one. We'll no longer need to do this animation again.
24:49
Speaker A
Now, we can go back to the main comp and drag this 2027 comp here. Place this layer between clouds layers.
24:59
Speaker A
Make it 3D, adjust its scale, position. And here on two views, make sure it's placed between our clouds. Around minus 300 on Z position is fine, I think.
25:23
Speaker A
Also, apply a deep glow on this text comp with 300 [music] radius and 0.1 exposure. If you don't have deep glow, you can use standard After Effects glow.
25:36
Speaker A
Finally, add a drop shadow with 100 opacity, 11 distance, and 22 softness. And for now, let's disable the deep glow effect because it loads PC too much.
25:51
Speaker A
[music] We'll enable it at the end of this scene again. As our camera moves closer to China, we need to create a reverse fading animation of our text. To do this, go to 1 second 26 frames on timeline. Select
26:11
Speaker A
2027 comp and press control shift D on your keyboard to separate this layer into two parts.
26:20
Speaker A
[music] Right click on this second part, time, time reverse layer. Increase [music] its length to the end.
26:28
Speaker A
And now, simply move this layer on the timeline to the left until you find the start of animation.
26:36
Speaker A
So, find this sweet spot before the start of animation. Then, simply press Alt plus left brackets to cut this second 2027 layer.
26:47
Speaker A
Great. And let's parent this second 2027 duplicated comp [music] to the first one. I also want to add a flying plane animation to our scene. So, drag this airplane top view PNG that I found on Vecteezy service and place it between
27:07
Speaker A
flying through clouds and 2027 comps layers. Decrease its scale and make it 3D. On the second view, position this plane [music] near our text, but a little closer to the camera. Around -343 on Z position is fine, I think.
27:34
Speaker A
Move our plane to the bottom left corner out of screen and at 19 frames create a position keyframe.
27:43
Speaker A
Go somewhere here on the timeline and move this plane to the top right corner out of screen.
27:52
Speaker A
Also, move this second key to 2 seconds 21 frames. I want to make this animation more interesting, so select these two position keys, then select pen tool and click on this little square. As you see, two sliders appear
28:16
Speaker A
and we can drag them slightly to the bottom to make this path line a little bit curvy.
28:24
Speaker A
Great, but now we need to adjust the rotation of our plane. Go to 19 frames and create a Z rotation keyframe.
28:33
Speaker A
[music] Change this Z rotation so this little central square is exactly on our plane path line.
28:43
Speaker A
At 2 seconds 21 frames, make sure this little square is also exactly on the plane path line.
28:52
Speaker A
Absolutely amazing. We can cut this plane layer at the moment of animation. All that's left in this intro part is to blur our map background and vignette it. And when the camera moves closer to the China, we'll remove this effect. So, create a new
29:14
Speaker A
adjustment layer, name it blur plus vignette. Place it under green screen clouds layer, but it should be above world map and gradient BG. Apply fast box blur and increase blur radius to nine.
29:31
Speaker A
Also, apply vignette and increase the amount to 250. At 2 seconds 7 frames, create blur radius and vignette keyframes. At 224, decrease radius and vignette to zero.
29:48
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9. And we can cut this adjustment layer at 224. Finally, it's time to create this nice China border outline that you see on your screen right now.
30:03
Speaker A
[music] And there are two ways you can outline country borders without third-party plugins like GeoLayers 3.
30:11
Speaker A
First method is very simple and I recommend you to Go to zero frame, isolate our map by clicking on this icon, turn off camera visibility, and [music] then it's very important, you need to remember and write down scale value that
30:30
Speaker A
you have is 33% and position values. It's 960 and 463.1 and zero on Z position. Now, we can increase scale and move this China to the center to see all the border lines clearly. Then I have this China country
30:53
Speaker A
map. You can find similar country maps on free vector maps website. [music] Now drag this vector to our comp. Enable continuously rasterize icon [music] and scale it up. First, we need to create an outline and then we'll adjust its
31:12
Speaker A
position and scale so it will ideally fits our world map. Select this China layer, go to layer, auto trace. Now copy my settings. Everything [music] should be the same as on my screen.
31:29
Speaker A
Click okay. As you see, auto trace China layer was created. Place it above China layer and we can actually delete this China. We need only auto trace.
31:43
Speaker A
Apply stroke effect on auto trace. Paint style, reveal original image. And here it's very very important to enable all masks.
31:55
Speaker A
As you see, now we have a this nice outline. Let's increase brush size to five and we need to adjust the position and scale of this outline so it perfectly fits the world map border.
32:12
Speaker A
You need to find the sweet spot until [music] this auto trace line perfectly match our original map China border.
32:22
Speaker A
And I want to say it right away that this is not the most ideal method.
32:27
Speaker A
[music] Since at some points I have to manually move these points so that they match the original borders, But, overall, it's okay.
32:44
Speaker A
When you finish, rename this auto trace to China border. After that, make this layer 3D, enable visibility of camera layer, parent China border to world map layer, and return the values for the world map layer that we wrote down earlier.
33:04
Speaker A
And again, make sure the China border is parented to the world map. Set a world map layer scale back to 33%.
33:15
Speaker A
X position to 960, Y position to 463.1, Z position to 0. Turn off isolation of world map and China border line, and place China border line here above the world map.
33:35
Speaker A
But, you should understand that this first method doesn't always work. This time, we were lucky, and the China map fit perfectly with our world map.
33:48
Speaker A
But, sometimes the country map you download from another resource simply doesn't match the map you are working with. In this case, you'll need to draw the border line manually.
34:02
Speaker A
And the second method is actually to do everything manually. If you succeed with the first method, then you don't need to repeat after me. Just listen. But, if the first method didn't work for you, you can repeat this one after me.
34:21
Speaker A
Go to zero frames, isolate our map [music] by clicking on this icon. Turn off camera visibility, and then it's very important you need to remember and write down scale value that you have is 33% and position values 960
34:40
Speaker A
463.1 and 0. Now we can increase scale and move this China to the center.
34:51
Speaker A
Then select pen tool, disable fill here, set stroke width to around 4 pixels, change color to red and start manually draw this border outline following our black map border.
35:07
Speaker A
If at some point you have deselected this shape line, then to continue this line and not create a new one, simply select this line layer again, shift click on this last little square and continue drawing a line.
35:23
Speaker A
[music] It will take some time, but it's not as hard and as [music] long as you think.
35:45
Speaker A
When you finish, rename this line to China border. Also, you can increase stroke [music] width to 5.
35:53
Speaker A
Make this layer 3D, enable visibility of camera layer, parent border to world map layer and return the values for the world map that we wrote down earlier.
36:05
Speaker A
It's 33 scale 960 X position 463.1 Y position 0 Z position. Place the China border line here above the world map and turn off isolation of world map and China border line.
36:25
Speaker A
Now you're familiar with these two methods, and you can use [music] any of them in the future. But, I like the first one much more, so I'll use it.
36:36
Speaker A
Let's animate this outline. Go to 2 seconds 20 frames and create an end keyframe on stroke effect. Decrease it to zero.
36:47
Speaker A
At 4 seconds 6 frames, increase back to 100. If you're working with the second method and created a shape line manually, just add trim path on it and also animate the end parameter.
37:01
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a slight peak on the left.
37:07
Speaker A
Just drag this slider to the center. Apply fill effect on China border and change color to dark red. Type DF0303.
37:21
Speaker A
Also, apply deep glow with 150 radius and 0.05 exposure. And for now, [music] we can disable deep glow because it loads PC too much. Next, we need to create the scene inside China and nicely reveal it by ink. Of course, we'll do this in a
37:39
Speaker A
new comp, so create a new comp, increase its duration to 40 or 50 seconds, and name it China. First of all, create a new black solid and name it BG.
37:52
Speaker A
Start color red and color black. Ramp shape radio ramp. Start of ramp point should be in the center. End of ramp here at the bottom, even [music] out of screen. Increase blend with original to around 60% to make our BG
38:11
Speaker A
dark red. And also to avoid these gradient lines, increase ramp scatter to around 47%.
38:20
Speaker A
Okay, now drag president PNG image and place it here. Decrease its scale. I want his hand to be at the right, so right click, transform, flip horizontal.
38:33
Speaker A
Now let's create president's movement. We'll do this using a puppet pin tool. Make sure you are at zero frame. Select president layer, click on puppet pin, and create one dot on president's head and three dots here at the bottom along
38:50
Speaker A
his body. Press U on your keyboard and you'll see a keys. It's our puppet pin dots. So, at zero frame, move this yellow head puppet pin slightly to the left. Go to 1 second 18 frames and move this dot slightly to the right.
39:09
Speaker A
We create this nice movement, but we need to loop it and make it constant.
39:15
Speaker A
We'll do this with a help of expression. Alt-click on this puppet pin with two keys and type loopOut brackets quotation marks ping pong. Select keys, press F9.
39:30
Speaker A
Awesome. Now his head movement is looped. Apply drop shadow with 59 opacity, minus 94 direction, 30 distance, 89 softness.
39:47
Speaker A
And also apply tint to make this layer black and white. Next, drag dust particles overlay. Place it between BG and president. Change blending mode to screen, adjust scale. Move this layer on the timeline until you find a moment
40:05
Speaker A
where this particle explode. I want more of these particles, so duplicate this layer, right click on duplicated layer, transform, flip horizontal.
40:20
Speaker A
Right click one more time, transform, flip vertical. Now, drag China flag to our comp, key light [music] it, place it between the president and dust particles. Adjust its scale, change rotation to 38, and position somewhere here at the top left
40:42
Speaker A
corner. [music] By the way, you can find this flag on YouTube. Just search for China flag green screen.
40:50
Speaker A
I'll say right away, don't be too careful with the scaling and positioning of these layers now, [music] because a little later we'll be changing their scale plus position. Apply drop shadow on this flag with 60 opacity, 19 distance, 132 softness.
41:08
Speaker A
Finally, drag Chinese word PNG to our comp, place it under the president layer. Adjust its scale, rotation, and position so it at the end it should be somewhere here. I want this red thing with white letters to be separated from
41:27
Speaker A
our Chinese words, so duplicate these Chinese words, select pen tool, and mask this thing.
41:36
Speaker A
Then, copy the mask by control C, and paste it by control V to the original layer.
41:43
Speaker A
On the original layer, invert this mask. Move this thing here to the left, and increase its scale a little bit.
41:52
Speaker A
Apply tint effect on Chinese words original layer, and change map black [music] to yellow.
42:04
Speaker A
Also, apply drop shadow. Copy this drop shadow, and apply on this red thing with white letters.
42:14
Speaker A
Now we can reveal the scene by ink. But first of all, precomp all these layers and name this precomp as China reveal.
42:24
Speaker A
Drag ink reveal overlay here. You can find similar ink reveals overlays on YouTube. Now simply track matte China reveal to ink reveal. And it's very important to have these two icons here the same as mine. One is the
42:43
Speaker A
sun and another black and white square with a circle. Great. But we also need to adjust the position and scale of the ink reveal layer. First of all, increase its scale to 170.
43:00
Speaker A
Then right click, transform, flip vertical. Change rotation to minus 84. And then simply increase its scale width to around minus 230 by dragging this little square.
43:20
Speaker A
I also want [music] this ink to reveal faster. So right click, time, time stretch and set stretch factor to 70.
43:27
Speaker A
Awesome. We also need to create a fade up animation for this ink. To do this, simply apply CC Burn Film on ink reveal layer.
43:38
Speaker A
At 1 second 15 frames, create a burn keyframe with zero value. Go to 227 and increase burn to 100.
43:48
Speaker A
Select [music] keys, press F9. To make this fade up animation more interesting, you can always play with random seed value and find the best value that you like the most.
44:04
Speaker A
Go to main comp. We need this scene that we created to be inside China country.
44:11
Speaker A
We can do this using a track matte effect. So, duplicate China outline, rename it to China fill matte, and delete all the effects. Stroke, fill, and deep glow should be deleted, and we have this big China country fill.
44:32
Speaker A
It's very important to place this fill matte layer under outline. And move this China fill layer on the timeline, so it should start at 2 seconds 22 frames.
44:49
Speaker A
Now, drag China comp here, and place it under China fill matte layer. Move it, so it should start [music] at 2 second 22 frames, the same as China fill matte.
45:04
Speaker A
Make this layer a 3D, scale it down, and now it's very important to adjust its position, changing values only here, because if you will start positioning this layer in the main window, it will accidentally change Z position, and we
45:21
Speaker A
don't want that. Z position should always be set to zero. So, press P on this layer to see position.
45:29
Speaker A
Then, press shift plus S to see scale, and adjust scale plus position values, changing them here.
45:37
Speaker A
Make sure our China comp covers [music] all the country. After that, simply track matte China to China fill matte.
45:46
Speaker A
The only icon should be enabled here [music] is this black middle circle. It's alpha matte icon.
45:55
Speaker A
And remember how I told you not to worry about position [music] and scale in this Chinese composition. because we'll have to redo everything later. Now it's time to do this.
46:08
Speaker A
So, you need to go to China reveal comp and start scaling down our president, flag, and China words layers.
46:17
Speaker A
Also, move them to the left a little bit. Go to main comp and check what we have. Okay, as I see, we need more adjustments. So, all you need to do now is to go into the China reveal comp,
46:32
Speaker A
change the position and scale of the layers as needed, and then check how it looks in the main composition.
46:40
Speaker A
[music] Do this until you have everything perfectly positioned, rotated, and scaled so that it looks good in our main composition.
46:49
Speaker A
This is what I got. I recommend you to arrange everything in approximately the same way as I did. So, the president here near the center, flag on the left, China was here in this area.
47:04
Speaker A
As you see, we don't have any empty space, and that's what we need. I really like how [music] this ink reveal looks. For now, we finished working with many of these layers, so we can click on this icon and hide blue
47:20
Speaker A
vignette adjustment, green screen clouds, 2027 comps, airplane, and flying through clouds. We should have only blue gradient, world map, China, and camera layers.
47:35
Speaker A
Oh, and I almost forgot, we also need to create a geographical grid on our world map. It's very easy to do. So, go to zero frame on timeline, click on this icon and isolate blue BG, world map, and disable visibility of
47:53
Speaker A
camera one. Create a new solid, name it grid, place it between China and world map layers.
48:00
Speaker A
Apply grid effect on it. Anchor should be 960 and 540. Corner 1,145 675 border 1.5 color black, opacity 45 And here set blending mode to overlay.
48:27
Speaker A
And make this layer 3D. Disable layers isolation by clicking on these icons again and enable camera visibility.
48:36
Speaker A
Now we have this nice grid. Our next step is to create more camera movements.
48:43
Speaker A
So select cam control two, press U to see the keys. Go to the last keys on the timeline, duplicate this null, delete keys on duplicated null and parent cam control two to cam control three. At 1 second 27 frames, create [music] a
48:59
Speaker A
position plus X rotation keys on cam three. Go to 5 seconds 5 frames and increase [music] X rotation even more to around 24.
49:11
Speaker A
And also move [music] a little bit closer to the China. Select all four keys, press F9 and create a speed graph with a peak in the center.
49:22
Speaker A
Select both sliders [music] and move them to the center till 70% influence. So with cam three, we create a smooth zoom [music] in to China.
49:32
Speaker A
Let's create a new camera movement that will zoom into Taiwan. So go to the last keys of cam control three, duplicate this null, delete all keys on duplicated null and parent cam three to cam four. At 3 seconds 25
49:51
Speaker A
frames, create position [music] X and Z rotation keys on cam four. Go to 7 seconds 13 frames and decrease X rotation [music] in my case to around eight.
50:05
Speaker A
Then on position move to find China again. Change Z rotation to around minus 64 [music] and move closer to Taiwan country. So Taiwan should be in the center of the screen.
50:18
Speaker A
Select all keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center with 70% influence on both sliders.
50:30
Speaker A
This camera movement is so smooth and here at the end of camera movement, I see that we need to correct our outline.
50:40
Speaker A
So select outline and correct position of these little circles so we cover all these black parts [music] from our original world map borders. Now we'll create these red attack arrows and after that we'll work on the Taiwan outline glowing line, flag,
51:02
Speaker A
and its potential occupation animation. Create a new comp and name it arrow. Drag this arrow PNG that I found on Vecteezy service. Apply gradient ramp effect on this arrow.
51:17
Speaker A
Start color black and color dark red. Place start of ramp point here closer to the top right corner and end of ramp here near the arrow.
51:34
Speaker A
Also apply bevel alpha effect with edge thickness set to three and light intensity set to 0.8.
51:42
Speaker A
Finally, select this layer, select pen tool and create this mask at the beginning of the arrow.
51:51
Speaker A
Invert it and feather. Great. Let's create an animation for this arrow. Our animation will start from this point and we need to move anchor point here.
52:05
Speaker A
So, click on anchor point icon and move it here. At 2 seconds, create a scale plus rotation key. Go to zero frame and change rotation to minus 60, scale to zero. Select keys, press F9 and create a speed graph with a slight peak on the
52:23
Speaker A
left. Just drag this slider to the center. Awesome. Go back to main comp and drag arrow here.
52:33
Speaker A
Place it between grid and China comps. [music] Also, move this arrow comp on timeline so it should start at 5 seconds 8 frames.
52:43
Speaker A
Now, go to the moment where all the animations are finished and let's position this arrow. First of all, make it 3D.
52:52
Speaker A
As you see, our arrow is far away from us. Don't panic, we'll fix it easily.
52:59
Speaker A
First of all, decrease scale of arrow to around 7.6%. Then, press control home on your keyboard and [music] now we see our arrow comp, but it's not visible because of its Z position. So, change Z position to zero.
53:18
Speaker A
And now move this arrow closer to us by changing these values here. Change Z rotation of this arrow to around minus 62.
53:32
Speaker A
After that, just adjust its final position by changing X and Y position values here.
53:40
Speaker A
If you will hold control on your keyboard while changing values, they will change much slower and it will be easier for us to find the sweet spot. It looks great. Now apply deep glow with 200 radius and 0.02 exposure on this
53:58
Speaker A
arrow. And also add drop shadow with 70% opacity, 13 distance and 20 softness. And we can disable deep glow for now because it slows PC.
54:11
Speaker A
Now duplicate this arrow comp, right click, flip horizontal. And again, just play with a scale, Z rotation and position values to find the best spot for this arrow. But it's very important to change position values on the here on this layer panel window
54:31
Speaker A
because if you will move these arrows, [music] you can accidentally change Z position. Z position should always be set to zero.
54:41
Speaker A
So, I found this spot for arrows and I really like it. The second arrow shouldn't be the same size as the first one because in real maps, there is always a main strike with big arrow [music] and additional strikes with a smaller
54:58
Speaker A
ones. It's time to highlight the body of Taiwan and reveal its flag by ink.
55:05
Speaker A
Remember I told you about two methods for creating glowing outlines for country bodies. For China, I used the auto traced method, but in this case, it makes more sense to use the second method and draw a stroke manually since
55:23
Speaker A
Taiwan is a small country and it won't require much work. Okay, so go to zero frame, isolate our map and blue BG by clicking on this icon. Turn off camera visibility and then it's very [music] important.
55:41
Speaker A
You need to remember and write down scale value that you have. It's 33% and position values 960 and 463.1 and zero on Z position. [music] Now we can increase scale of world map and move Taiwan country to the center.
56:04
Speaker A
Then select pen tool, [music] disable fill here, set stroke width to around three pixels, change color to light blue and start manually draw this border outline following our black map border.
56:24
Speaker A
When you finish, rename this line to Taiwan border. Make this layer 3D, enable visibility of camera layer, parent border to world map layer and return the values for the world map that we wrote down earlier. It's 33 scale,
56:43
Speaker A
960 X position, 463.1 Y position, zero Z position. Turn off isolation of world map blue BG and place Taiwan border line here above China outline. Apply deep glow on Taiwan border with 200 radius and 0.1 exposure and disable this effect because it loads
57:09
Speaker A
PC. Let's animate Taiwan border outline. Open this layer, add trim path. Go to 5 seconds 16 frames and create an end keyframe.
57:25
Speaker A
Decrease it to zero. At 6 seconds 17 frames, increase back to 100 and cut this layer at the start of end animation. Great.
57:36
Speaker A
Now, let's create a Taiwan flag scene which we'll reveal by ink inside this country. So, create a new comp and name it Taiwan.
57:46
Speaker A
Duration of this comp should be set to 40 seconds. And let's copy background from our China comp and then we'll just change its color.
58:00
Speaker A
Go to China comp, China reveal, copy BG layer by pressing control C. Then go back to Taiwan comp and press control V to paste this [music] BG.
58:10
Speaker A
And change the color of gradient ramp to blue. Drag Taiwan flag here. Key light it and position it like I did.
58:24
Speaker A
Select BG and Taiwan flag. Precomp them. Name this precomp as Taiwan reveal. Drag ink reveal two to this comp.
58:34
Speaker A
Let's right away track matte Taiwan reveal to ink reveal two and make sure these two icons are enabled.
58:42
Speaker A
And now, let's adjust scale [music] and position of ink reveal two. First of all, right click on it, transform, flip horizontal. Change its rotation to 69 degree scale to minus 80 and drag this little square to increase scale width to
59:00
Speaker A
around 140%. Adjust its position. To create a fade up animation of this ink reveal two, apply CC burn film on it. At 1 second three frames, create a CC burn film keyframe. At 2 seconds seven frames, increase it to 100.
59:23
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, and change random seed value to find the best fade out CC burn film animation.
59:33
Speaker A
Go back to main comp. Now we'll need to create Taiwan fill mat, and [music] then we'll track mat our Taiwan comp to this fill. Duplicate Taiwan border outline. Rename it to Taiwan fill mat.
59:49
Speaker A
Place this duplicated layer under Taiwan border line layer, and move it so it starts at 5 seconds 22 frames. Open contents and delete trim path on Taiwan fill mat layer.
60:03
Speaker A
Also delete deep glow effect from this layer. Decrease stroke to zero and enable fill.
60:10
Speaker A
Make it white. Okay, now drag Taiwan to this comp, place it under Taiwan fill mat layer.
60:17
Speaker A
This comp should also [music] start at 5:22, so move it here. Make this layer 3D. Decrease its scale to around 1.2%.
60:27
Speaker A
And we see our comp here. It's too far, so using these X and Y position [music] values numbers, move it on Taiwan country. Change Z rotation to minus 80, [music] and place it so it covers all Taiwan island.
60:47
Speaker A
Then just track my Taiwan comp to Taiwan fill mat. The only icon should be enabled is this black circle inside white square. As in the case of China, we need to go back to Taiwan reveal and adjust the position plus scale of this
61:04
Speaker A
flag. Check how it looks at the main comp, and then go to Taiwan reveal and correct it until you find a sweet spot.
61:12
Speaker A
Now we need to create an animation of potential occupation and reveal China flag by ink on top of Taiwan. And also change border color to red. So, go to Taiwan comp [music] and we'll simply duplicate this Taiwan reveal and change everything inside it.
61:32
Speaker A
But, we need to duplicate this precomp not here in the last panel window, but here in the project panel window. In this case, we can change everything in a duplicated comp without affecting the original one. Duplicate Taiwan reveal in
61:48
Speaker A
this project panel window and rename it to occupation. Drag this occupation and place above all the layers. It should start at 1 second 23 frames, so move it here.
62:02
Speaker A
Go inside this occupation comp, select Taiwan flag, then in the project panel window select China flag and holding Alt on your keyboard, drag China flag to the Taiwan flag.
62:16
Speaker A
In this case, it will perfectly replace our Taiwan flag with all its values. And it's very important to hold the Alt key on your keyboard while you are doing this. Also, change [music] background gradient start color to red.
62:34
Speaker A
Go to China comp, copy ink reveal by Ctrl C. Go back to Taiwan, press Ctrl V to paste this ink reveal. Enable its visibility by clicking on this icon and move it on the timeline so it starts at 1 second 23
62:50
Speaker A
frames. Track matte occupation to this ink reveal and make sure these two icons are enabled.
62:58
Speaker A
[music] Now, copy film burn keyframes from ink reveal two, go to 4 seconds 10 frames, select occupation, and paste these burn keys.
63:09
Speaker A
[music] So, the first should be at 4 seconds 10 frames and the second at 5 seconds 11 frames. You can also play with random seed to find the best film burn fade out animation.
63:24
Speaker A
Go back to main comp and now we need to change Taiwan border to red at the moment of occupation.
63:33
Speaker A
First of all, open stroke color and copy it. Just select these numbers and letters and press Ctrl C. Apply fill effect on a Taiwan border layer [music] and paste these numbers to color. Go to 7 seconds 19 frames and create color keyframe.
63:52
Speaker A
[music] At 8 seconds 8 frames, change color to dark red. Just type here D70101.
64:06
Speaker A
Now copy these two keys. Go to 10 seconds 6 frames and paste them. Select them, right click, keyframe assistant, time reverse keys.
64:16
Speaker A
Select all four keys, press F9. It's time to add missiles launch overlay to our comp. Drag missile launch overlay to our comp, place it above all the layers except camera and camera nulls.
64:32
Speaker A
[music] Keylight it to remove green screen and move it so it will start at 5 second 27 [music] frames. Also, we need to increase the speed of this overlay because missiles are flying too slow.
64:47
Speaker A
So, right click, time, time stretch and set stretch factor to 70. Make this layer 3D, scale it down to 16% and find it in 3D space.
65:00
Speaker A
Here it is. Press P [music] and start moving it closer to us changing X and Y position values here at the layer panel window.
65:10
Speaker A
Now we go to around 7 seconds five frames and check where do the missiles fly.
65:18
Speaker A
Also, adjust its Z rotation. And again, adjust this last position. So, the missiles should fly in the center of the island.
65:31
Speaker A
All that's left is to add an explosion. Drag quick explosion top view to our comp and place it above all the layers except camera.
65:40
Speaker A
You can find similar explosions on YouTube. This explosion should start at 7 seconds 16 frames, so move it here. Make it 3D and now simply copy position from missiles launch by Ctrl-C and paste it to explosion by Ctrl-V.
65:58
Speaker A
Decrease explosion scale to around 0.6%. Then simply adjust the explosion position by changing these values here.
66:10
Speaker A
Then cut this explosion layer at around 10:15. All right, the moment of film burn fade out animation. And I also want to add a little flash impact at the moment of explosion. So, create a new adjustment layer and name it flash.
66:29
Speaker A
Uh it should be placed above all the layers except the camera. Apply [music] exposure effect. At 7 seconds 17 frames, create exposure keyframe. At 7:23, increase it to 1.5. At 8 seconds 9 frames, decrease it to zero again and
66:47
Speaker A
cut this adjustment at the moment of animation. It looks great. Let's create the next camera movement.
67:01
Speaker A
As always, go to the last keys of cam control four. Duplicate this null, delete all keys on duplicated null, and parent cam four to cam five. Go to 6 seconds 12 frames, and create position plus Z rotation keys on
67:17
Speaker A
cam five. At 8 seconds 25 frames, move closer to Taiwan country and change Z rotation even more.
67:25
Speaker A
We're too close to the map, so our camera is very sensitive to value changes.
67:31
Speaker A
To make it less sensitive, just hold control while changing values. They will change slower, and the camera will be less sensitive.
67:42
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, and create a speed graph with a peak in the center with 70% influence on both sliders.
67:51
Speaker A
For the next camera movement, do the same. Go to the last keys of cam five.
67:57
Speaker A
Duplicate this null, delete all keys on duplicated null, and parent cam five to cam six. Go to 8 seconds 10 frames, and create position plus Z rotation keys on cam six. At 12 seconds six frames, move back to our original position. Zoom out
68:15
Speaker A
from Taiwan and change Z rotation back to the value it was on cam four. In my case, it's around minus 60.
68:25
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, and create a speed graph with a peak in the center with 70% influence [music] on both sliders.
68:34
Speaker A
We also need to add possible text here on the ocean. So, let's duplicate 2027 comp here in the project panel window by pressing control D. Rename duplicated comp to possible.
68:48
Speaker A
Go inside this comp [music] and change text to possible. Adjust its scale. Adjust gradient ramp dots.
69:00
Speaker A
Go on timeline to the peak of our glitch animation and adjust scale wipe dots on stretch [music] and stretch to less and check if everything is okay with masks.
69:16
Speaker A
Go back to main comp and drag possible comp here. Place it under flash impact adjustment.
69:24
Speaker A
This text should start at 9 second 29 frames, so move it here. Now go to the end of camera animation and make possible comp 3D.
69:36
Speaker A
Copy missile's launch position and [music] paste it to possible comp. Decrease its scale to around 2.2 and adjust its Z rotation plus position.
69:47
Speaker A
Don't forget to hold control while doing this because everything is very sensitive. [music] And what I want to do is to change its Z position also to around minus 50 to add some depth when our camera zoomed out from Thailand
70:04
Speaker A
country. As you see, we have this nice parallax effect. Adjust the final position of this text.
70:16
Speaker A
Apply deep glow on this text comp with 200 radius and 0.02 exposure. Also apply drop shadow with 100 opacity, 12 distance, 37 softness and disable deep glow for now because it loads PC too much.
70:34
Speaker A
We are done with this part of the scene, so we can hide all the layers we don't need.
70:41
Speaker A
Hide arrows, missile's launch, quick explosion, possible text and flash adjustment. And by the way, we can also hide all these camera nulls except cam control six because we don't need them.
70:58
Speaker A
It's time for the camera movement that will lead us to USA. Go to the last keys of cam control six. Duplicate this null.
71:08
Speaker A
Delete keys on duplicated null. Parent cam control six to cam control seven. Go to 10 seconds 25 frames and create position plus Z rotation keys on cam control seven. At 14 seconds three frames, change Z rotation almost to zero
71:25
Speaker A
and also zoom out a lot from Taiwan and China and move somewhere here to the left.
71:34
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center and 70% influence.
71:45
Speaker A
Also, we can cut possible text comp here around 12 seconds 15 frames. Go to the last keys of cam control seven. Duplicate this null. Delete keys on duplicated null. Parent cam seven to cam eight. At 12 seconds 18 frames,
72:09
Speaker A
create position X and Z rotation keys on cam eight. [music] At 15:27, move to USA, adjust Z rotation, increase X rotation a little bit and of course adjust the final position.
72:27
Speaker A
Select all keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center with 70% influence. [music] It's time to create USA border glow it outline. For USA country, we can also create a border manually. It won't take
72:46
Speaker A
[music] us a lot of time. Go to zero frames, isolate our map and BG by clicking on this [music] icon. Turn off camera visibility and then it's very important.
72:59
Speaker A
You need to remember and write down scale value that you have. It's 33% and position values. 960 463.1 0 Now we can increase scale and move USA to the center.
73:17
Speaker A
Then select pen tool, disable fill here, set [music] stroke width to around 5 pixels, change color to orange and start manually draw this border outline following our black map border.
73:33
Speaker A
It will take us some time, but it's not as hard and as long as you think.
73:44
Speaker A
When you finish, rename this line to USA border. Make this layer 3D, enable visibility of camera layer, parent border to world map layer, and return the values for the world map that we wrote down earlier. [music] It's 33 scale, 960 X position, 463.1
74:06
Speaker A
Y position, 0 Z position. Turn off isolation of world map and USA [music] border line and place the USA border line here above the Taiwan border.
74:23
Speaker A
Also copy deep glow effect from Taiwan and paste to USA border. And we can even increase stroke width to around 7, I think. Let's turn off deep glow for now.
74:36
Speaker A
We need to create a border outline animation. Open this layer, trim path. At 14 seconds 14 frames, create an [music] end keyframe. Decrease it to zero. At 15 seconds 24 frames, increase back to 100. Cut this border at the
74:54
Speaker A
first [music] key frame. Select keys, press F9. And now we need to work on USA scene that will reveal by ink inside this country later. Create a new comp and name it USA. We need background and we can copy it from China
75:15
Speaker A
comp and then change color. So, go to China comp, China reveal, copy BG by pressing Ctrl C. Go back to USA comp and press Ctrl V to paste it. Change start color to blue and decrease blend with original a little bit to make it
75:34
Speaker A
lighter. Drag Trump PNG image, scale it down and place it somewhere here. Let's create his head and hands movement animation using puppet pin tool. Go to zero frame, select Trump layer, click on puppet pin icon and create one pin on
75:52
Speaker A
head, one pin here at the bottom of his body, and two pins on a hand. At zero frames, move this hand pinch to the left a little bit. Go to 1 second and move it slightly to the right. Select these two
76:08
Speaker A
keys, press F9, [music] Alt-click on position and type loop out brackets quotation marks ping pong.
76:21
Speaker A
Go back to zero frames and move this head pin slightly to the right. At 1 second, move it slightly to the left.
76:31
Speaker A
[music] Select them, F9, Alt-click on position and type loop out brackets quotation marks ping pong.
76:44
Speaker A
Apply drop shadow on this layer with 70% opacity, [music] 15 distance, and 30 softness. Also, apply tint to make Trump [music] black and white. Great. Next, drag USA flag to our comp till I did.
77:00
Speaker A
Change rotation to 122°, decrease scale, and place it here. We can also increase its speed by clicking on this layer time time stretch. Set stretch factor to 70.
77:13
Speaker A
Also, let's go to China reveal comp, copy two particle layers by Ctrl C, go back to USA comp, and paste them by Ctrl V. Place them under flag layer. Select all these layers, precomp, and name this precomp as USA reveal. And now we'll
77:32
Speaker A
just copy ink reveal from China comp. So, go to China comp, and copy ink reveal by Ctrl C. Go back to USA comp, and paste it by Ctrl V.
77:43
Speaker A
Turn on visibility of ink layer by enabling this icon here. Track matte USA to ink reveal, and make sure these two icons are enabled. Sun, and black and white circle inside square.
77:58
Speaker A
And I also want this ink to reveal from left to right, so right click on it, transform, flip vertical.
78:09
Speaker A
Go back to main comp. Duplicate USA border line, rename it to USA fill matte, and place under USA border.
78:21
Speaker A
Open this fill layer, and delete trim path. Uh also, decrease stroke to zero, and enable white fill.
78:30
Speaker A
Delete tip glow effect on this fill layer. [music] Now, drag USA, and place it under USA fill mat. Make it 3D. Scale down, press B, and using these position values here, move it to USA country. Z position should be always zero. And simply adjust
78:51
Speaker A
scale plus X Y position values until this USA comp perfectly covers all the country. Select USA plus USA fill layer and move them on the timeline so they should start at 14 seconds 20 frames.
79:07
Speaker A
[music] Track mat USA to USA fill mat and make sure this icon is enabled.
79:20
Speaker A
I need to adjust scale and position of the flag and Trump. So, go to USA reveal comp and adjust Trump's position [music] scale. Do the same with flag and check again if everything looks good in the main comp.
79:38
Speaker A
Awesome. We're ready for the next camera movement. Go to the last keys of cam control eight, duplicate this null, delete keys on duplicated null, and parent cam eight to [music] cam nine. Go to 14 seconds 28 frames and create a
79:54
Speaker A
position keyframe on cam nine. At 19 seconds 29 frames, move slightly to the right so USA should be at the left part of the screen. Select keys, F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center and 70% influence.
80:17
Speaker A
For the next camera movement, go to the last key of cam control nine. Duplicate this layer, delete keys on duplicated layer, and parent cam nine to cam 10.
80:28
Speaker A
Go to 60 seconds two frames and create position, X rotation, and Z rotation keys on cam 10 now.
80:36
Speaker A
Move on the timeline to 19 seconds 27 frames, and on position move again to China and Taiwan.
80:44
Speaker A
Change Z rotation to around minus 28, decrease X rotation to around three, change Z position to zoom in to these countries, but not too much, just like I did. Select all these six keys, press F9 [music] create a speed graph with a peak in the
81:03
Speaker A
center, and 70% influence. For the next camera movement, go to the last keys of cam control 10, duplicate this null, delete all keys on duplicated null, and parent cam 10 to cam 11.
81:22
Speaker A
Go to 18 seconds seven frames, [music] and create a position plus Z rotation keyframes on cam 11. At 21 seconds 11 frames, change Z rotation to around minus 65, and move really close to Taiwan. [music] So, this island should
81:39
Speaker A
be near the center of the screen. Select keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center, and 70% influence. Now, we need to reveal the USA flag here in the ocean.
81:57
Speaker A
So, create a new comp, and name it USA flag. Drag USA flag here, key light it.
82:07
Speaker A
Right click on it, time, time stretch, change stretch factor to 60. Apply linear with an amount set to 240. Also, scale our flag down a little bit to 92.
82:20
Speaker A
Now, let's reveal this flag by ink. Go to China comp, copy ink layer, go back to USA flag comp and paste this ink here.
82:31
Speaker A
Enable its visibility. Delete burn effect from this ink. Decrease this ink scale to 130%.
82:46
Speaker A
Also track matte USA flag to this ink. Make sure these two icons are enabled.
82:52
Speaker A
Great. But I also want to create ink from the base [music] right side also.
82:59
Speaker A
So, press control C to copy this ink reveal and precomp these two layers. Name this precomp [music] as USA flag reveal. Press control V to paste ink.
83:11
Speaker A
This ink should reveal from [music] right to left, so we need to flip it.
83:16
Speaker A
Right click on this layer, transform, flip vertical. After that, track matte USA flag reveal to ink reveal again.
83:25
Speaker A
Make sure these two icons [music] are enabled. And for flag fade up animation, we'll simply move this ink reveal to the top and scale it too much. So, at 1 second, three frames, create scale plus position keys on ink reveal. Go to 4
83:42
Speaker A
seconds, three frames, and increase ink scale to 230 and position it so it covers all our flag and everything is black.
83:54
Speaker A
Select these four keys, F9, create a speed graph with a peak on the right.
84:01
Speaker A
So, just move this slider to the right. Also, cache USA flag reveal comp at 3 seconds, 26 frames.
84:12
Speaker A
Great. Now, go to main comp and drag USA flag comp here. Place it under China comp layer. And this USA flag layer should start at 18 seconds 27 frames. So, move it here. Make this comp layer 3D. Press
84:29
Speaker A
P to see position values and start changing X and Y position to move this USA flag comp closer to us.
84:38
Speaker A
Also, decrease its scale to around 2.8%. [music] Change its rotation to around minus 77 and [music] position it in the middle of the Taiwan island. While changing these values here, hold control. In [music] this case, values will change much
84:56
Speaker A
slower. Z position should always be zero. [music] I really like how it looks and we can cut this layer at 22 seconds 17 frames.
85:08
Speaker A
[music] And here around 22 seconds 22 frames, I see something have changed in our China comp. Let's go inside, open China reveal. Oh, there's our China flag. Go to 1929 and [music] cut this flag layer.
85:26
Speaker A
Then duplicate it and move this duplicated flag so it should start at 20 seconds.
85:34
Speaker A
Great. Let's do [music] this with all other flags. For example, somewhere here at 18 seconds, we can go to Taiwan, Taiwan reveal, cut this flag, duplicate [music] it and move the duplicated flag layer here.
85:50
Speaker A
And what about USA flag? We'll deal with it later. And I think we're too close to this [music] island, so let's go to the last position key of cam control 11 and zoom out a little bit on Z position.
86:09
Speaker A
Let's create the next camera movement that will lead us [music] to a scene with chips.
86:16
Speaker A
By the way, we can select cam controls from 6 to 10 and to hide them by clicking on this icon because we don't need them anymore.
86:25
Speaker A
Then go to the last keys of cam control 11. Duplicate this null. Delete all keys on duplicated null and parent cam 11 to cam 12.
86:36
Speaker A
Go to 19 seconds four frames and create position plus Z rotation keys on cam control 12.
86:45
Speaker A
[music] At 24 seconds one frame, zoom into island and also change Z rotation a little bit.
86:55
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center [music] and 70% influence.
87:02
Speaker A
Now let's work on this chips part of the scene. First of all, let's create a text. Go to the project panel window and find 2027 comp. Press Ctrl D to duplicate it.
87:15
Speaker A
Change its name to chips text. [music] Go inside this comp and change text to chips.
87:22
Speaker A
Now go to main comp. I want to create the same animation as with this USA flag, but with chips inside Taiwan country. So let's duplicate [music] USA flag comp in the project panel and rename it to chips. Also duplicate USA
87:40
Speaker A
flag reveal and rename it to chips reveal. Go inside chips comp. Now select chips reveal in the project panel, hold Alt on your keyboard and drag chips reveal into USA flag reveal comp to replace it.
87:55
Speaker A
Increase length [music] of chips reveal. Great. Go inside chips reveal. Delete flag layer. Drag CPU video that I've prepared for you. Decrease its scale to 50%.
88:12
Speaker A
Also drag chips text here. Decrease its scale to 62% and place it in the center below this chip.
88:21
Speaker A
And this chips text comp should start at 26 frames. Select text plus chips video layers, precomp them, name precomp as chips plus text reveal, enable visibility of ink reveal. Track matte chips plus text reveal to this ink.
88:40
Speaker A
Increase its scale and scale width. Let's slow down this ink reveal. Right click on ink layer, time, time stretch, set stretch factor to 120.
89:01
Speaker A
Go to chips comp, then go to the first scale plus position keyframes of ink reveal and increase scale plus scale width.
89:18
Speaker A
Go to the second scale plus position keyframes and adjust [music] everything you need. Our comp should be full bright here. Right click on this ink layer, [music] time, time stretch, set stretch factor to 120. Move first position plus scale keys to 2 seconds 26
89:36
Speaker A
frames. Second pair of keys should be at 7 second one frame. Now we have this animation and it looks awesome.
89:50
Speaker A
Also, let's go to chips plus text reveal comp and apply drop shadow on text layer and a deep glow.
90:04
Speaker A
Go to Taiwan comp and drag chips comp here. Place it above all the layers and move on the timeline so it should start at 14 seconds 11 frames. Also cut this layer at 21 16.
90:20
Speaker A
And go to Taiwan reveal and increase length of this flag layer. Let's see how it looks in the main comp.
90:33
Speaker A
Awesome. It's time for a new camera movement. As always, go to the last keys of cam control 12. Duplicate this null. Delete all keys on duplicated null. Parent cam 12 to cam 13. Go to 23 seconds nine frames and create [music] a position
90:51
Speaker A
plus Z rotation keys. At 28 seconds one frame, change Z rotation [music] and zoom out from Taiwan. Not too much.
91:01
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center influence.
91:11
Speaker A
For the next camera movement, go to the last keys of cam control 13. Duplicate this null. [music] Delete all keys on duplicated null. Parent cam 13 to cam 14.
91:23
Speaker A
Go to 24 seconds eight frames. [music] Create position X and Z rotation keys. At 28 seconds 18 frames, change Z rotation to almost zero. Zoom [clears throat] out on Z position a lot [music] and also increase X rotation.
91:40
Speaker A
So, finally you should be somewhere here. Select all keys, press F9, [music] create a speed graph with a peak in the center and 70% influence.
91:53
Speaker A
Now, let's reveal a nuclear sign by ink inside China and USA countries. Create a new comp and name it nuclear China.
92:04
Speaker A
Drag nuclear sign here, scale it down to around 30% and let's mask this white part here. Select layer, then select ellipse tool and holding shift plus control on your keyboard, start drawing this ideal circle. You can always open mask
92:25
Speaker A
settings and change mask expansion if you need. I also want to create constant rotation animation for this sign. So, I'll click on rotation and type time asterisk minus 35.
92:43
Speaker A
Okay, now go to China comp, copy ink reveal, go back to nuclear China and paste this ink. Delete burn film effect.
92:54
Speaker A
Right click time time stretch. Set stretch factor to 120. Enable visibility of ink reveal and track match nuclear sign to ink. Make sure these two icons are enabled. Change this scale value of ink reveal to around 128 and adjust the
93:13
Speaker A
position of ink reveal so ink [music] covers a little bit top and bottom parts of the nuclear sign.
93:22
Speaker A
Let's also [music] create another ink reveal that goes from right to the left. Copy ink reveal layer, pre-comp these two layers and name this pre-comp as nuclear sign reveal. Then, paste ink reveal here that we copied before.
93:38
Speaker A
[music] Transform flip vertical. Enable its visibility. Track my nuclear sign comp to this ink reveal. [music] Make sure these two icons are enabled.
93:50
Speaker A
Adjust its position a little bit if you need. Great. Now go to China China reveal. I want to place nuclear sign reveal here where the Chinese [music] words are placed.
94:04
Speaker A
And we actually can cut these two Chinese words layers around 12 seconds, 12 frames. If we go to the main comp, we'll see that at this [music] timing we're on Taiwan. So this cut won't be visible.
94:18
Speaker A
Go back to China reveal and drag nuclear China comp here. Place it under president and move to 22 seconds, 18 [music] frames. So it should start here.
94:29
Speaker A
Decrease its scale to around 80% and position it slightly behind the president's back and head.
94:38
Speaker A
Go to the main comp and let's see how it looks. If you need any adjustments, you can always go back to China reveal and change scale or position of this nuclear China comp. And then [music] check how it looks in the main comp again.
94:56
Speaker A
Now we can create the next camera movement that will lead us to the United States.
95:02
Speaker A
And we [music] can also select cam controls from 11 to 13 and hide them by clicking on this icon. Now go to the last keys of cam control 14. Duplicate this null. Do it all keys on duplicated null and parent cam 14 to cam 15. Go to
95:20
Speaker A
26 seconds, 20 frames and create position X and Z rotation keys. At 30 seconds, 29 frames, move to the United States. [music] Don't worry, we'll fix this flag right after camera movement. Zoom out on Z position a little bit. Also increase
95:39
Speaker A
[music] X rotation, but not too much. Make final adjustments of position and Z rotation. Make sure the United States is in the center of the screen. Select keys, press F9, [music] create a speed graph with a peak in the
95:55
Speaker A
center and 70% influence. Okay, now let's fix this flag. Move on the timeline to the moment where USA is not on the screen. So, around [music] 28 seconds is fine.
96:12
Speaker A
Go to USA comp, USA reveal. Cut this flag layer, duplicate it, and move duplicated layer so it should start after the end of the previous flag.
96:24
Speaker A
Now it looks fine, but [music] we also need to move Trump to the left a little bit because we'll place a nuclear sign somewhere here.
96:34
Speaker A
So, go to USA reveal again, select Trump layer, and here at the moment where we cut flag, let's press control shift D on Trump layer to divide it into two parts.
96:47
Speaker A
And move this second part to the left somewhere here. We need to place nuclear sign on the USA country, and we can simply go to the project panel window, find nuclear China comp, duplicate it by control G, and
97:01
Speaker A
rename it to nuclear USA. Go to USA reveal comp, and drag nuclear USA here.
97:08
Speaker A
Place it under Trump layer. Nuclear USA should start at 13 seconds 19 frames, so move it here. Increase nuclear comp scale to around 110%.
97:20
Speaker A
And position it slightly behind the president's back and head. Go to the main comp, and let's see how it looks. If you need any adjustments, you can always go back to USA reveal and change scale or position of this nuclear
97:35
Speaker A
USA comp, then check how it looks at the main comp again. It's time to create one of the last camera movements. Go to the last keys of cap control 15, duplicate this null, delete keys on duplicated null, and
97:50
Speaker A
parent cam 15 to cam 16. Go to 29 seconds 28 frames, [music] and create position plus X rotation keys on cam control 16.
98:00
Speaker A
At 35 seconds 28 frames, zoom out on Z position. Also change X rotation to almost zero, and move to the European part of the world. [music] The US and China shouldn't be on the screen.
98:20
Speaker A
Select keys, press F9, create a speed graph with a peak in the center. It's time for the missiles launch and explosion. [music] Drag nuclear missiles to our comp, place it above all the layers except camera.
98:41
Speaker A
[music] This layer should start at 32 seconds 14 frames, somewhere here. You can find similar missiles launch assets on YouTube. Decrease scale to 54% and change blending mode of this asset to screen.
98:56
Speaker A
Make this layer 3D, and move on the timeline to the end of our camera movement. Change its Z rotation to around 14.
99:05
Speaker A
Also change its Z position to around minus two, so it's not at the same plane as our world map.
99:12
Speaker A
Then move on timeline to 35 seconds four frames. It's at this timing that the explosion will occur. And change position of [music] our missile, so this light part should be in the center of the screen. So, position the nuclear missile roughly as
99:32
Speaker A
I did. Duplicate this nuclear missile, transform, flip horizontal. Change Z rotation to minus 14, [music] and place it here on the opposite side.
99:44
Speaker A
Now, we need to create masks for each of the missiles here in the center so that they don't fly any further, but explode and finish their flight. Select first missile, then click on pen tool, [music] and draw this mask that goes from the
100:02
Speaker A
center to the right. Invert it, and [music] feather to around 50 or 60. Do the same with second missile, but mask should go from the center to the left here.
100:18
Speaker A
Invert and feather to 50 or 60. [music] Great, that's what we need. Next, drag arrow explosion to this comp and place it above all the layers except the camera. This explosion should start at 35 seconds for frame, so move it here.
100:37
Speaker A
Make it 30 degrees, its scale to around 33%, move it to the center, and change the position to around minus five, [music] so it's above our missiles. Our missiles is too bright, and this explosion is very dark, so let's color
100:52
Speaker A
correct it a little bit. [music] Simply apply curves on this arrow explosion, and drag this line to the top, make it curved like I do.
101:02
Speaker A
We also need to add shake impact at the moment of explosion. Create a new adjustment layer and name it shake. This shake should be above all the layers except camera. It's very important.
101:17
Speaker A
Apply standard After Effects wiggle position preset. You can find it here inside the behaviors folder. Change wiggle speed to three, and wiggle amount to zero. Go to 35 second one frame, and create wiggle amount keyframe. At 35 seconds six frames, increase amount to
101:39
Speaker A
130. Then go to 36 seconds, 14 frames, and decrease amount back to zero. Select keys, press F9. Also, disable use composition shutter angle here.
101:52
Speaker A
Increase shutter angle to 200 and select bicubic sampling. Great. We can cut this adjustment at the moment of shake animation.
102:03
Speaker A
Also, let's add a little flash effect. Apply exposure in this adjustment. At 35 second, one frame, create exposure keyframe.
102:15
Speaker A
At 35 06, [music] increase exposure to 1.2. Go to 36 seconds and decrease exposure back to zero. Select keys, press F9. And I think we can move this whole adjustment one or two frames forward. Let's make this cool

fire transition to the last scene. Drag fire transition to our main comp and place it above all layers except camera.
102:41
Speaker A
It should start at 35 seconds, 22 frames. So, move it here. Key light it.
102:52
Speaker A
Finally, drag Earth nuclear explosion video that I found on the Vecteezy service and place it under shake adjustment. Move it to 36 seconds, 10 frames.
103:13
Speaker A
Actually, it's better to place fire transition under shake and increase its scale. Also, I recommend to drag dust particles and place it under shake but above Earth explosion. Move particles layer to 36 seconds 10 frames. Isolate this layer by
103:38
Speaker A
clicking on this icon. Increase its scale, change blending mode to screen. Find the moment where particles are flying and cut this layer here. Disable particles layer isolation.
103:56

We finally finished our scene. Time for a quick color correction. First of all, let's click on this icon and unhide everything. Now go to zero frame and [music] follow me.
104:08
Speaker A
First of all, let's enable visibility on our crumpled paper texture and grunge texture and make them 3D.
104:17
Speaker A
After that, enable deep glow on this 2027 comp and this 2027 comp. Also, enable deep glow on China outline and on the Taiwan border.
104:29
Speaker A
And of course, on two arrows. Enable deep glow on possible text comp and on USA border.
104:39
Speaker A
And also on this chips [music] text. So, go to Taiwan chips chips reveal, chips plus text reveal, and here on chips text comp, enable deep glow.
104:51
Speaker A
[music] And now enable motion blur on all the layers except camera and camera nulls.
104:57
Speaker A
So, check one more time [music] if motion blur is enabled on every layer except camera and camera nulls.
105:06
Speaker A
After that, select all the layers and pre-comp them. Name this pre-comp as scene. Go to 38 seconds 9 frames and create opacity key on scene one.
105:20
Speaker A
[music] At 39 29, decrease opacity to zero. It's time for a color correction. Create a new adjustment layer, name it vignette, and apply vignette effect on it. Set amount to 130.
105:41
Speaker A
On a new adjustment layer, apply noise effect with 5% of noise. [music] Also, turn off use color noise. On the final adjustment layer, apply Lumetri Color.
105:53
Speaker A
Go to creative section and select SL Big Look here. It's a standard After Effects look.
105:59
Speaker A
Decrease its intensity here to 35. Our standard After Effects color correction is ready, but let me turn off visibility of vignette and Lumetri Color to show you the best color correction possible. Right now, you don't need to follow me. Just listen. I will create a
106:17
Speaker A
new adjustment layer and name it looks. Then, I'll apply Looks plugin from Magic Bullet Looks. It's a third-party plugin, but I really recommend you to find it [music] and use in the future.
106:30
Speaker A
Click edit, and this menu will appear with a lot of presets. My favorite is Blockbuster Classic Tension.
106:38
Speaker A
And here you can see all the effects and change them. For example, I don't want this edge softness, so let's decrease its strength to zero. Click okay.
106:51
Speaker A
And here we can also decrease overall strength of this preset. 70% is fine, I think.
106:59
Speaker A
But if you don't have this Looks plugin, you should have these three adjustments enabled.
