Hi crochet friends. Welcome and welcome back to Alice's Crochet Corner. Today, I'll show you how to crochet this easy mesh bag. It's beginner friendly, fully adjustable, and works up into a lightweight everyday bag. Here are the measurements for the finished bag. For yarn, I used about 2 and 1/2 skeins of 100 g yarn in a cotton acrylic blend. The pattern is adjustable, so you can use any type of yarn you'd like. But if you are worried about stretching, I recommend using cotton or cotton blend yarn. I'm using a 4.5 mm crochet hook, four stitch markers, scissors, and a yarn needle. Let's get started. First, we are going to make the base of our bag. To start, I'm going to create a slip knot. How I like to do mine is I twist my yarn to form a loop and I grab the tail end of the yarn and pull through that loop. And then I insert my hook and pull tight. Next, we chain 42. To do a chain, we wrap our yarn around our hook and pull through that slip knot we just created. You can see that that V is our first chain. This is our second, third, and I'm just going to keep going until I have a total of 42 chains. I have just chained 42. And for size reference, we're looking at about 25 cm. And if you need, that's about almost 10 in. Now if you want a bag that's a similar size to mine, feel free to adjust the number of chains. You just need to adjust your number of chains so that it is any even number. After we have chained 42, we are going to go ahead and chain four more. So that's one, two, three, and four. After chaining four, we are going to go ahead and do a double crochet into the fourth chain from the hook. So we don't count the chain on the hook, which means this is our first, second, third, and fourth chain. To do a double crochet, we wrap our yarn around our hook once and insert it into that fourth chain. We grab our yarn at the back and pull up a loop. We now have three loops on our hook. Then we wrap our yarn around our hook and pull through two loops. And we wrap our yarn around our hook again and pull through the remaining two loops. And then we chain one, skip the next chain, and work a double crochet into the chain after. So again, I've just wrapped my yarn around my hook, inserting it into that chain and pulling up a loop. Wrapping our yarn around our hook and pulling through two loops. Wrap our yarn around our hook and pull through the remaining two loops. After the double crochet, we chain one. We again skip the next chain and work a double crochet into the chain after. After the double crochet, we chain one again. We skip the next chain and work another double crochet into the chain after. We chain one, skip the next chain, and again work a double crochet into the chain after and then chain one. So you can see that the pattern we've just done is creating this space which looks like the mesh pattern. And so that is what we will continue to do all the way, sorry, all the way until the very end. So again, that is a double crochet, a chain one, we skip a chain, then we work a double crochet again. And we'll repeat that all the way until the end. When we reach the very last chain, we are going to work one double crochet and a chain one a total of three times. So I'm going to first do a double crochet in this very last chain. Chain one. And then again in that same very last chain, I'm doing another double crochet. And then the chain one again. And one last time, another double crochet in the very last chain. And a chain one. And what you'll see is that by doing that three times, we have started to create the curve for the base of our bag. After we have worked in that very last chain, we are going to start working in the mesh pattern on the underlying chains. And what we want to do is make sure that when we work a double crochet, it is right above the one that we have done on this side. So, I'll show you what I mean. I'm just working a double crochet into the underlying chain right below the one that we've done on the first side. And then we chain one. And then we do it again. And then chain one. And again, right below the double crochet. Chain one and then continuing on. And so we will repeat that mesh pattern all the way until the very end. And I'll meet you when we're done. When we reach the very last chain, I'm going to go ahead and work one double crochet and a chain one twice. So that's one double crochet, chain one, then I do one more double crochet and a chain one. And so you can see that what we've done here looks very similar to what this side looks like. And so to end this round, we are going to do a slip stitch into that third chain. So this is our first, second, and third chain. And to do a slip stitch, we insert our hook into that chain, grab our yarn, and pull through. And pull through again. And so you can see that the curve for the base of the bag now looks the same on both sides. So we have now done the first round for the base of the bag. We will now do the second round. To start, we are going to chain four. So that's one, two, three, and four. And this does count as a double crochet and a chain one. And so after the chain four, we will work a double crochet right above this one from the first round. Okay, right above. And then we chain one. And again, we work a double crochet right above this one from the first round. Chain one. We keep doing the same thing. Chain one, chain one, and chain one. So, this is going to be the pattern, the top of the bag. So, we're going to continue with the mesh pattern all the way at the top. And then when we reach the three double crochet and the chain one that we did in that last chain from the first round, I will show you what to do there. I have worked the mesh pattern all along the top and we have now arrived at where we've done the three double crochet and chain one. So, what we're going to do here is right above each of the double crochet, we are going to do two double crochets and two chain ones. So, I'll show you what I mean by that. Right above that first double crochet at the curve, I'm going to do one double crochet. Chain one and then one more time in that same stitch. Double crochet and the chain one. And then I'm going to do the same thing right above the next double crochet. So you can see, going to do one double crochet, chain one, and one more time in that same stitch, a double crochet, and a chain one. And then in that very last double crochet of that curve, I am doing the same thing. One double crochet, chain one, and then again in that same stitch, one double crochet and a chain one. So essentially, we have increased in the three stitches so that the base is nice and flat. And then from here on, I'm going to continue with the mesh pattern all along the other side again, which means that I'm going to work a double crochet right above the one from the last round. I do that once and then I move on to the next stitch. So you can see what we have done. And we're just going to continue with that mesh pattern all along the top. And I'll meet you when we're back at where we've started. I have worked the mesh pattern along the top. And you can see that we have now arrived at the first stitch of the curve. So, we're going to do what we've done here. And right above that first stitch of the curve, again, I'm going to work a double crochet. And then a chain one. And one more time in that same stitch, a double crochet. And a chain one. And then right above the next double crochet, I'm going to do the same thing. A double crochet and a chain one. And one more time, a double crochet and a chain one. So you can see I've done it twice now. And this is where it's slightly different. So, at the start of this round, remember we have chained four and I said that this does count as a double crochet and a chain one. We want it to look similar to what we've done on this side, which means that in that same stitch, we want to work a double crochet and a chain one. Right? So, it's just right at the base of where we...
