How to ask a question about a recording
How to ask
iPhone and iPad
- Open a recording and go to the Chat tab.
- Type a question or tap a suggestion, such as "What will be on the exam?" or "The main point, briefly".
- For a question that is not about one recording, tap Assistant on the home screen. It sends recording questions to that recording's chat — the Ask about a recording button.
Android
- Open a recording and go to the Chat tab.
- Type a question or tap a suggestion, such as "What will be on the exam?" or "The main point, briefly".
- For a question that is not about one recording, tap Assistant on the home screen. It sends recording questions to that recording's chat — the Ask about a recording button.
Web
- Open a recording and go to the Chat tab.
- Type a question into “Ask about the recording” or click a suggestion: for a lecture “What will be on the exam?”, for a meeting “What was decided?”, otherwise “The main point, briefly”. Answers point to moments of the recording.
- The list above the chat holds the Main chat and the conversations you started with + New.
- For a question that is not about one recording, click Assistant in the side panel or on the Today screen. A conversation that belongs to a recording is marked “about a recording” and has an Open the recording link.
Worth knowing
The answer is built from the text of the recording, and the AI can be wrong — check anything important against the recording itself. For a very long recording the chat does not see the whole text at once but picks passages that fit your question, so phrase the question specifically.
Limits
There is a limit on the number of messages and a daily cap on how much text is sent to the AI. If no reply arrives or you see "Too many requests", wait: the cap resets once a day. Buying minutes does not lift it. In the web version the limits read “Too many requests. Try again a little later”, “Today’s AI limit is used up — please try again later.” or “No reply came. Please try again later.”
What data the AI receives is in how AI processes your recordings.
