How AI processes my recordings
In shortAudio goes to our server and to a third-party transcription service, and text goes to third-party AI models for titles, notes, flashcards, quizzes, translation and chat. We do not sell recordings or their text.

What goes where
- Transcription. Audio goes to our server and to a third-party speech recognition service. Videos from YouTube links are transcribed by a third-party AI model.
- AI features. Recording titles, notes, flashcards, quizzes, translation and chat work on the text of the recording; audio is not sent to these models.
- Dictation and the voice translator. The sound is processed by Apple or Google speech recognition and does not go to the SozAI server.
Consent and boundaries
AI processing of your recordings starts once you accept the "How SozAI handles your recordings" screen. It has no decline button: if you disagree, do not upload recordings, or delete them and the account. In the web version the same window appears once, before your first recording; besides “Accept and continue” it has only a link to sign out. The web window does not mention dictation and the voice translator, because the web version has neither. The AI is used to transcribe, structure, translate and quiz you on your own material, not for diagnoses or advice. The transcription service keeps its own copy for its own period, which is described in the privacy policy.
