Which files can I upload

Updated 6 October 2026 · 2 min read
In shortYou can upload audio and video: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, MP4, MOV, OGG and OPUS (WhatsApp and Telegram voice notes), WEBM, FLAC, AIFF, AMR, 3GP, WMA and more. One file can be up to 500 MB.

How to upload a file

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open SozAI on the Home tab and tap Upload.
  2. Choose a file from the list.
  3. Wait for the recording to appear in your library; transcription starts on its own.

Android

  1. Open SozAI on the Home tab and tap Upload.
  2. Choose a file from the list.
  3. Wait for the recording to appear in your library; transcription starts on its own.

Web

  1. On the Today screen click Upload files and choose the files, or drop them anywhere in the window. Several at once is fine.
  2. The Upload files screen lists what you picked. A file the web version will not take is marked right there: “Not audio or video — skipped”, “The file is empty — skipped” or “Larger than 500 MB — skipped”.
  3. Click the Transcribe button under the list (it names the number of files, for example “Transcribe 2 files”). The upload goes on in the Uploads panel in the corner of the window; keep the tab open until it finishes.

Formats SozAI accepts

  • Audio: MP3, MPEG, MPGA, WAV, M4A, M4B, M4R, AAC, OGG, OGA, OPUS, WEBM (WEBA), FLAC, AIF, AIFF, AMR, WMA.
  • Video: MP4, M4V, MOV, QT, 3GP, 3GPP, 3G2.
  • Repacked on the server: CAF, AIFC, MKA, MKV, QTA (multi-track voice recorder files). The service converts these to M4A first.

The server identifies the file by its content, not by the extension in its name. The web version looks at the extension first: a file whose extension is not on this list is skipped before it is sent.

If your format is not on the list

That file cannot be transcribed. Convert it to MP3 or M4A in another app and upload it again. For files over 500 MB, see File larger than 500 MB.
