File larger than 500 MB
In shortOne file can be at most 500 MB; that is the upload limit. Save only the sound from a video, or split the recording and upload each part separately.
What to do with a large file
iPhone and iPad
- If it is a video, save only the audio (M4A or MP3) in another app. Audio is much smaller.
- If the audio alone is over 500 MB, split the recording into parts.
- In SozAI tap Upload and upload the parts one by one. Each becomes its own recording.
Android
- If it is a video, save only the audio (M4A or MP3) in another app. Audio is much smaller.
- If the audio alone is over 500 MB, split the recording into parts.
- In SozAI tap Upload and upload the parts one by one. Each becomes its own recording.
Web
- The limit is the same on the web: one file up to 500 MB. A larger one is marked “Larger than 500 MB — skipped” on the Upload files screen and is not sent.
- If it is a video, save only the audio (M4A or MP3) in another program. If the audio alone is over 500 MB, split the recording into parts.
- Drop all the parts into the window at once and click Transcribe: they upload one after another, and each becomes its own recording.
Why 500 MB
It is a storage limit of the service, and it cannot be raised for a single user. The app says the same: the file is larger than 500 MB, the upload limit.
Minutes when you split
Minutes are counted for each recording separately, and the length is rounded up to a whole minute. So several parts can add up to slightly more than one file.
In the web version
A file is sent in 5 MB parts, and after a dropped connection the upload continues from where it stopped: keep the tab open. A recording made in the browser is limited by time, not by size: up to 3 hours.
Recordings made in the app
An hour recorded in SozAI is about 43 MB, so such recordings rarely come near the limit. See Long recordings.
