How to record a Zoom or Meet call on a computer

Updated 6 October 2026 · 2 min read
In shortOpen SozAI on the web in Chrome or Edge, choose the “Tab audio” source (or “Both” to add your microphone) and pick the tab with the call. This works when the call is open in the browser.

How to record a call in the browser

Web

  1. Open the call (Meet, Zoom or Teams) in one tab and SozAI in another.
  2. In SozAI, click Record on the Today screen and in the Audio source block choose Tab audio, or Both to record your microphone too.
  3. Click Start recording. In the browser window, pick the tab with the call and turn on “Also share tab audio”.
  4. Keep the recording tab open; it is marked with a red dot. Until the recording is uploaded it is kept only in that tab, and the browser asks before you close it.
  5. When the conversation ends, click Done — transcribe.

Where it works

Chrome and Edge on a computer provide tab audio. In Firefox and Safari this source is inactive, and only microphone recording is available. A phone browser offers no choice of source: it records the microphone.

If the call runs in the Zoom, Meet or Teams app

A browser cannot hear other programs. Record the meeting with the service’s own recording and upload the file to SozAI.

If you stop sharing

Recording continues from the microphone if it was on. If it was not, recording stops and what was captured is saved.

How long a recording can be

One recording in the browser can be up to 3 hours. It stops by itself when your minutes run out or at three hours and goes to transcription; SozAI warns you 2 minutes before.

Tell the people on the call that you are recording.
