Welcome to r/bestofredditorupdates, where OP takes a dump in a sensory deprivation tank while he's in it. Our next Reddit post is from r/legaladvice.

[laughter] I'm sorry. I had diarrhea in a sensory deprivation tank. The title pretty much sums it up. I paid for a sensory deprivation tank experience, not realizing I'd contracted norovirus and was about to have symptoms. Initially, I was having a lot of weird hallucination-type sensations, which I chalked up to the sensory deprivation experience. It later turned out that I had a 103° fever and I somewhat fell asleep. I woke up to an awful odor and demanded to be let out of the tank, and it turned out that I had diarrhea'd in it. This alone was a traumatizing experience, but now the facility is trying to charge me $8,000 to replace the tank as they don't feel they can safely disinfect this. I don't recall signing anything with some sort of diarrhea clause. Am I actually liable here? Then, 5 months later, OP posted an update. The facility wants me to ultimately pay $12,500, way more than initially quoted, to replace the tank since they don't feel safe deep cleaning it. I found an attorney willing to represent me and we're saying that since I was asleep, there's no one to definitively know that I'm the one [laughter] [laughter] There's no one to def- There's no one to definitively know that I'm the one who diarrhea'd in the tank, and it's possible an employee dumped something in it. Furthermore, I was there on a promo day where they were having a pancake and sushi luncheon, and it's possible that if I had diarrhea, it may have been something I contracted from their food. Everything is pending, but I have hope now. The main downside is that my legal fees are rapidly approaching the cost of the tank. So, I'm hoping we can have them pay these. Then, 2 years later, OP posted an update. Actually, it's not an update. It's a post to r/plumbing and the title is poop in the tub. Well, it finally happened. Our 18-month-old child pooped in the tub. The majority of the large solids were skimmed out, but some definitely went down the drain. Is there anything to do to prevent odor from developing in the pipes or anything special we should run down the drain? My hope is that the water and cleaning supplies used for the tub clean the pipes by association. And then one of the commenters says, "Like father, like son." I don't even know where to begin with this one. First of all, this is a funny and gross story. Get that out of the way. Secondly, I cannot believe that this guy took a dump in someone else's sensory deprivation tank and doesn't have the integrity, the spine to pony up the money to replace the tank, and OP's trying to weasel out of it. Third, OP's defense, like I remember when I was little one time, really, really young, I broke something in the house and I thought to myself, "Oh, mom's going to be mad at me. I know, I'll make up a story that the window was open and a raccoon came inside and broke the thing and then left." And then after thinking thinking about it for 30 seconds, I was like, and that was like 8-year-old logic was able to figure out that that's, you know, no one's going to believe that. But OP's honestly [laughter] OP's honestly trying to argue that he was that he was chilling in a tank and some mystery mystery pooper snuck into the room, opened the tank, exploded blasts of diarrhea into the the quietly closed it, and then snuck out. And then OP found out later and was like, "It wasn't me. It could have been anyone." Yeah, man, it was definitely a wild raccoon that shat diarrhea into your tank, man. And the final point, imagine how unbelievably frustrated you would be if you're a business owner and you invest who knows how much, $8,000, $12,000 in a sensory deprivation tank, only to find out one of your clients takes a dump in it, and then has the absolute gall to sue you for legal fees. Also, I looked online at the cost of a sensory deprivation tank, and they can be anywhere from like 2K to 30K. So, the price estimate actually does sound realistic here. Our next Reddit post is from r/relationshipadvice.

My 36-year-old stepdad installed a surveillance camera positioned outside my window to scan our backyard while him and my mother and two younger brothers go camping. I couldn't go on the trip since I had work. So, I was staying home to house sit and feed our animals. My stepdad recently put up new cameras outside, so I didn't see anything wrong with him positioning one outside my window. I come to find out the very next day, I had my boyfriend stay over, and he found that the surveillance camera that was ran from outside my window and into my room was being powered by one of those spy camera power blocks. For context, my relationship with my stepdad hasn't always been the best, and we tend to butt heads a lot. He said a lot of questionable things in the past that I've written off because he's my dad, and I would never think he intended to be inappropriate or harmful. He's been in my life since I was 8 years old. Of course, I'm second-guessing everything now that I found this camera. It was positioned to point directly at my bedroom door from the far wall, so it has a direct view of my entire room, which I change in. I tried desperately to rationalize it and think that it was maybe a mistake, like he grabbed the wrong charger box, or maybe he was just trying to look for intruders. But, really, there's no excuse for putting a camera in my bedroom. The camera even had an SD card in it. I'm beyond devastated. My stepdad even suggested I invite my boyfriend over while they're gone, so I have someone here, which is something he would never do considering he's made it clear before that he doesn't want him over when no one is home, because he doesn't want us screwing in his home. My boyfriend and I are going through the SD card to see if there's anything on it. I'm at a complete loss at how to even bring this up with my mom. I confided in my aunt and uncle since they live close by, and they've been very supportive of me having a conversation with my mom about it. The whole situation is extremely upsetting. I at least have some family to support me as I navigate this, but I don't even know how to bring this up to my mom. This is obviously going to change everything. She had my 5-year-old half-brother with him. My mind is racing with the consequences this is going to have on our family. Has anyone that's been in a similar situation have any advice? How can I do this without causing extreme damage to the family, although that may be impossible? There's a lot of updates. I don't know where this is going, but let's be really clear. OP isn't the one causing damage to the family. The gross stepdad is the one who's blowing everything up. Then OP posted an update. I went to the police station tonight and filed a police report and turned in the spy camera with the SD card. The officer said that this is a serious offense, and I'll likely get a call early next week from an investigator due to the severity of the situation. I'm planning on telling my mother about the police report after we have a conversation about this on Monday with my aunt and uncle present. I'm staying with my boyfriend tonight to keep out of the house. Then another update. It's the next morning and once my boyfriend wakes up, we're going back to my house today to look for any more secret cameras, either in the bathroom or my brother's rooms, so I can submit it for more evidence. Then another update. After talking with my aunt, uncle, boyfriend, and my cousin who's a civil lawyer, I've decided that I'll speak to my mom in a separate location from my stepdad. Most likely I'll have her meet me somewhere outside of our home. I'll have my aunt with me and this is where I'll explain everything to her. 08:00
Speaker A
uncle, boyfriend, and my cousin who's a civil lawyer, I've decided that I'll speak to my mom in a separate location from my stepdad. Most likely I'll have her meet me somewhere outside of our home. I'll have my aunt with me and this
08:13
Speaker A
is where I'll explain everything to her. The camera, past uncomfortable experiences I've had with my stepdad that I originally brushed off because he was my dad, video footage of him deliberately setting up the camera and angling it, and footage of me in my
08:28
Speaker A
room. I'm praying she understands why I had to go to my aunt instead of her, considering she was not in town and I was worried for her safety if I told her what happened. Then 1 year later, OP
08:40
Speaker A
posted an update. A lot of you probably want to hear that my boyfriend and I got justice for what my mother's husband did to us. Oh, interesting. She stopped calling him stepdad, which means this is this has gone the way I thought it
08:53
Speaker A
would. I really, really wish that I could say that we did, but given our terrible police system and outside factors, we have not. I keep contact with my brothers and mom, but contact is now severely limited because of the
09:07
Speaker A
situation. It pains me to not be able to see my younger brothers like I used to, but honestly, it isn't my choice and I've come to accept it. My mother is still with him and continuing to isolate herself from family. Whether that's
09:21
Speaker A
because of her husband or her own shame, I'm not sure. Maybe both. My boyfriend and I moved in together. I graduated nursing school and I started my new job last month. We've been trying to heal from what happened and we've been
09:35
Speaker A
growing our relationship. We're planning a trip together soon. Then OP posted another update which re-summarizes all the information, but there is some new information, so I'm going to do the So, I'm going to go over the new stuff. The
09:48
Speaker A
camera he installed in my bedroom recorded me and my boyfriend being intimate and it was streamed directly to his phone. I regret not following through with the police report, but I was made to feel guilty. My mom held my
10:02
Speaker A
college fund over my head so that I couldn't report it. To this day, everyone in my family accepts him and doesn't see an issue with it. I'm no contact with him and low contact with my mom. But during the time when we found
10:15
Speaker A
the camera, my mom ignored me for an entire week while my entire world crashed around me. No calls to make sure I was okay, no text to check in on how I was doing mentally. She still avoids the
10:27
Speaker A
conversation to this day. She goes to church now and prays that I'll heal and come back around. I'm engaged now to my boyfriend and she has no clue that she won't be invited to my wedding. I'm planning on moving across the country to
10:41
Speaker A
cut contact with her and my siblings who also are brainwashed and support my stepdad. If I could go back in time, I'd have followed through with the police report and pressed charges. I'm not as scared or naive as I was back then and
10:56
Speaker A
sure as hell not as tolerant as those behaviors now. I trust a lot less and protect my peace a little more now. I always struggle to figure out who I hate more in these situations. The gross stepdad who set up the cameras and
11:11
Speaker A
actively encouraged OP to do dirty things in front of it, or the mother whose job it is to protect her kids turning a blind eye because she loves her husband. I don't know, maybe both equally. They're contemptible human
11:26
Speaker A
beings. I really hope that OP at least tells her siblings what really happened. Oh my god, I'm sorry. I I got totally sidetracked by this random comment that I just stumbled across. Paul says, "Blood is thicker than water, but jizz
11:40
Speaker A
is thicker than blood." Actually true in this story. This guy would rather get his rocks off than be a loving and supportive father who doesn't abuse his own stepdaughter. I woke up next to my husband in May and found that he was
11:55
Speaker A
dead. I'm a teacher in training and the university I go to is well aware of the situation.
12:01
Speaker A
I have a tattoo on my neck, which is the last message he wrote to me. And one day a colleague at work said, "Do you have your name on your neck?" I explained the situation. Last Friday, I was pulled
12:12
Speaker A
into a room by myself with no warning and asked if I had a letter from the police clearing me of his death. I was told that I had overshared at work and due to the nature of the death, he was
12:25
Speaker A
only 49 and died unexpectedly, they would like to see a letter from the police clearing me of any wrongdoing. I became extremely upset and told her that I wouldn't go any further than this unless HR was there to document the
12:39
Speaker A
conversation and take notes. She then followed me into the car park and asked me not to leave as she didn't want me to leave like this. I told her I was too upset to talk and she still asked me to
12:51
Speaker A
stay. I'm only 3 weeks into my course and I'm terrified they'll look for any reason to throw me out. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill? Then 9 months later OP posted an update.
13:02
Speaker A
Reading the numerous comments and pieces of advice from your community made me realize that I needed to get the union involved, which I did. After several meetings, the school agreed that they were at fault and issued a pretty
13:14
Speaker A
pathetic apology in writing, which used the phrase, "I'm sorry if your feelings were hurt." To me, this wasn't an apology. It was a platitude and it solidified my thoughts that I can't trust these people at all. I left the
13:29
Speaker A
course and the union was very open about the fact that because I hadn't worked there for long enough, no further action could really be taken and an apology should be all I expect from them. I've raised an official complaint if only so
13:42
Speaker A
they implement sensitivity training on a more diverse range of subject matters. I've decided to take a year off and then go back into teacher training with a different provider, one which won't ask me to prove that I'm not a murderer. I
13:56
Speaker A
want to know what in this story hears that a wife lost her husband and immediately thinks, "Prove you didn't do it, you murderer." I think this whack job listens to way too many murder podcasts. Also, what stupid evidence to
14:10
Speaker A
ask for? A letter from the cops saying, "Hello Mr. Whoever, to whom it may concern, we're pretty sure OP is not a murderer." You know how we know that the cops don't think that OP is a murderer?
14:20
Speaker A
Because she's not in jail. God, this person, whoever this person was, is really stupid, just a You really think cops are going to hand out Like there's no way they're going to hand out letters like this because the cops don't
14:33
Speaker A
The cops don't know this lady. Like they're going to issue some kind of doctor's note. "Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, please excuse them from coming in today.
14:40
Speaker A
They're not guilty." God, what an idiot. Our next Reddit post is from r/relationships. I'm taking summer courses and my laptop just broke. I asked my 23-year-old boyfriend, Andy, to borrow his laptop overnight so I could finish a paper. He
14:54
Speaker A
gladly said yes. As I was procrastinating with Reddit in one window, the tab at the top started indicating that there was a new Facebook message. Not even realizing that actually Andy was logged into Facebook, I clicked on the tab. Instantly
15:08
Speaker A
realized, "Oops, that wasn't mine." When I saw the message was from his brother. Basically, the message said, "Dude, where's horse teeth at? You're up late." I have terrible teeth. Yes, it's not a secret. So, obviously, this was about
15:23
Speaker A
me. I didn't answer, but my curiosity got the better of me and I scrolled through their conversation. While there were lots of positive things Andy said about me, "She's amazing. She's very fun. I would never cheat on her no
15:35
Speaker A
matter what." Andy's brother was pitching pretty hard to have Andy hook up with a girl from his work. And there were lots of compliments about my rock climbing. But my boyfriend also called me things like "no boobs McGee", "rat's
15:48
Speaker A
nest hair", and "avocado nose". He also went through a long conversation, sort of at his brother's urging, that I'm far from the prettiest girl he's ever dated and sometimes he misses the dumb big boob types he dated in high school.
16:03
Speaker A
Here's the thing, I know that I'm not the best looking girl. I wish I was, but I've come to terms with my appearance.
16:10
Speaker A
Well, at least I thought I had until last night. But I really love Andy. It's not like a first love puppy dog thing either because I've had boyfriends and been in love long before and this is different. I don't know if I should or
16:24
Speaker A
even could get over this, but I want to because nothing he said was untrue. I have no boobs, my nose is too big for my face, and I spend all my spare time outside, so my hair is a mess most of
16:37
Speaker A
the time. And it was a private conversation I was never supposed to see. But it still hurts that Andy doesn't see me as even attractive compared to his other girlfriends. How do I approach this or even should I? I
16:50
Speaker A
know that he'll feel horrible if he found out I knew about this. I don't want that, but I feel like I need to clear the air somehow. Should I? Then the next day OP posted an update. I took
17:02
Speaker A
most of the advice here and broke up with Andy. I can't even see straight.
17:07
Speaker A
I'm so brokenhearted and crying so hard. He was very apologetic and said that he didn't mean any of it. But to the person who said you can't unring a bell, that's what kept going through my head. I can't
17:19
Speaker A
even begin to describe how sad I am right now. I always kept my fair distance from guys, keeping school, climbing, I'm semi-pro, and my community garden as a comfortable pad between getting hurt too bad. But, I'm smitten with Andy. Everything about me and my
17:35
Speaker A
self-protective side I turned off because my heart skips a beat when he's around me. I'm crushed. I'm broken over this. I know things will be better in time, but my guts, I am sick right now.
17:48
Speaker A
Hey, just for context, OP, I don't know if this will help you or hurt you, but I have a brother, and I have never trash talked my partner to my brother, and my brother has never trash talked his
17:57
Speaker A
partner to me. I don't think that's something that normal, loving people do. That was r/bestofreddit updates, and if you like this content, check out my podcast where I publish the exact same episodes. Also, hit that subscribe button because I put out new Reddit
