What the? Holy! I thought it was a tree trunk. Look at his head. Welcome to Laan Bajjo. For the next few days, we're going to explore a place that many only know for its Komodo dragons. But there's so much more.
Speaker A
Hidden caves, stunning beaches, and incredible marine life make this place an underrated gem. And with Jet Star now being the only airline flying direct from Singapore to Laan Bajjo, cutting your trip from 6.5 hours to just 3 hours, there's no excuse. So, let's go.
Speaker A
Before we dive in, most sites are best done as day trips. So, book yourself a nice place like this one to save you time and transportation fees.
Speaker A
So, on your very first day, you're going to want to hop onto a boat and explore the stunning islands that surround the city. Hi, welcome to Par.
Speaker A
There's a very famous viewpoint on top where all the three beaches meet. I'm pretty sure you've seen pictures of it online, but is it worth it?
Speaker A
One of the main reasons why people all over the world come here is to see the world's largest desert. So, now we are about to go and explore one of the few islands where they roll one. Oh my god, guys. We
Speaker A
just stepped onto Komodo Island and there's already one right here. The guides say it's pretty rare that they are active and walking around with their heads up high. We're going to see if we can get a good shot of it. Look at his
Speaker A
head. Look at the size of his head. No, we didn't teleport to Australia. This is Komodo National Park's very own pink beach. A rare natural wonder. And we are lucky it's just 3 hours away. No trip to Komodo is complete
Speaker A
without diving into its underwater world. So we set off on a full day beneath the surface to soak it all in. We saw loads of stuff like two mantas, one white tip, one black tip shark. We even saw pumpkin
Speaker A
parrotfish, turtles, school of jackfish, loads of reef fishes. The visibility was amazing. Oh yeah, we even saw an eagle ray just playing around. For those of you who do not own a dive license, you can opt to get certified while
Speaker A
diving at these beautiful locations. All right. So, if you're looking for some fresh seafood, do drop by this place. It's like a whole street of vendors selling fresh fish, fresh prawns, and you just pick and they cook it fresh for you, and you can have it
Speaker A
behind their store. The town is also flooded with tons of different food options and cuisines for you to choose from. Here are some that we recommend.
Speaker A
[Music] It is a brand new day today and we are going to be doing something completely different. We've been to the islands.
Speaker A
We've been underwater. But it's time now to explore some hidden caves. Gua Butter Chamine basically means mirror cave and it's named so because there's a little pool and shine at the top and especially during May there's a lot of sunlight
Speaker A
coming in making it look like a mirror. There's no one else but us here. It's super dark and we're exploring all the different rooms in the cave.
Speaker A
One of the most popular waterfalls here. Not the easiest to reach, though. It's about an hour's drive from the city, plus a 20-minute trek to get there.
Speaker A
But we'll let you decide if it's worth it. Right now, we are on our way to our next spot. And apparently, it's a 10-minute boat ride away. And we have our captain here, Si.
Speaker A
So refreshing and really blue. It's amazing. And that was Rano Cave. You might think that it is fresh water inside the cave, but it's actually not.
Speaker A
It's actually salt water, which makes it so unique. Before heading home, we squeezed in a few experiences to dive deeper into the culture of the Mangarai people of Flores. In the past, our ancestors only produced two sarongs or two scarves a year.
Speaker A
So in the past, we just made them for ourselves for our traditional ceremony in the village.
Speaker A
We cook the ingredients here. We soak the dried here. Part of the tour also lets you witness how the Mangare people weave. Unfortunately, we couldn't film in there. But all I can say is that it's a super tedious process just to make one
Speaker A
of these beautiful saris. From us in Flores, we are not only from farm to table, but from forest to our plate. The food in the portal is coming from the garden. That's why we save the forest because the forest is where we
Speaker A
find our medicine, herbs, and our food. That is the culture that we are starting to bring back again. And that is all for our time here in Laan Bajjo. Definitely a place we recommend if you're into nature,
Speaker A
wildlife, and even diving. We hope we inspired you to book your next adventure here. Until then, we will see you in our next video.
Speaker A
Thank you for joining us in love.
