Turn a YouTube video into text

Updated 6 October 2026 · 2 min read
In shortTap YouTube on Home, paste the video link and tap Start (on the web: Transcribe). The transcript appears in your library. Minutes are charged by the video’s length, and only after the transcription succeeds.

How to transcribe a YouTube video

iPhone and iPad

  1. On the Home tab, tap YouTube.
  2. Paste a link like youtube.com/watch?v=… into the field.
  3. Tap Start.
  4. The result appears in the Library.

Android

  1. On the Home tab, tap YouTube.
  2. Paste a link like youtube.com/watch?v=… into the field.
  3. Tap Start.
  4. The result appears in the Library.

Web

  1. On the Today screen paste the video link into the YouTube field. Links like youtube.com/watch?v=… and youtu.be/… work.
  2. The Upload files screen opens with the link in the list. Click the Transcribe button (it reads “Transcribe 1 recording”).
  3. The recording appears in All recordings; its progress is shown in the Uploads panel in the corner of the window.

How many minutes it takes

Before it starts, SozAI finds out the video’s length and checks that you have enough minutes. If not, the transcription does not start. If you do, the video’s length is charged, rounded up to a whole minute, and only once the text is ready.

If the transcription does not work

No minutes are charged in that case. For next steps, see Transcription is slow or failed.
