How to FIX High DPC and ISR Latency in 60 Seconds

Learn how to fix high DPC and ISR latency causing audio pops and stuttering in 60 seconds with simple power and CPU core settings tweaks.

Key Takeaways

  • High DPC and ISR latency can cause noticeable audio issues like pops and stuttering.
  • Adjusting power management settings and unhiding hidden processor thresholds can reduce latency.
  • Unparking CPU cores ensures all cores are active, improving system responsiveness.
  • Using built-in Windows power plans with specific tweaks can optimize latency performance.
  • A quick restart of the latency monitor confirms if the applied fixes are effective.

What the video covers

  • The video addresses fixing high DPC and ISR latency issues that cause audio pops and stuttering.
  • It demonstrates opening Power Settings Explorer to unhide Processor Idle Demote and Promote Thresholds.
  • Users are guided to select the High Performance power plan and adjust advanced power settings.
  • Settings changed include turning off hard disk timeout, disabling hybrid sleep, and disabling selective suspend.
  • The hidden idle demote and promote thresholds are set to 100%.
  • The CPU Unpark app is used to unpark all CPU cores by setting the slider to 100%.
  • After applying these changes, users are instructed to restart the latency monitor to verify the fix.
  • The entire process is designed to be completed quickly, within 60 seconds.
  • The video targets users experiencing latency-related audio issues on their PCs.
  • No additional software or complex troubleshooting is required beyond the described steps.

Answers

Questions about this video

What causes high DPC and ISR latency that leads to audio pops and stuttering?

High DPC and ISR latency is often caused by inefficient power management settings and parked CPU cores, which delay system interrupts and degrade audio performance.

How do I unhide Processor Idle Demote and Promote Threshold settings?

You can unhide these settings by opening Power Settings Explorer and unticking or unhiding the Processor Idle Demote Threshold and Processor Idle Promote Threshold options.

Why is unparking CPU cores important for reducing latency?

Unparking CPU cores ensures all cores are active and available, which helps reduce interrupt latency and improves overall system responsiveness, reducing audio issues.

Hey everyone, hope you're doing well. Today, in this video, I'll show you guys how to fix all of your latency issues in 60 seconds. So, without further ado, let's jump straight into the video. If your latency looks similar, you might experience audio pops and stuttering. So, let's go ahead and fix it. First up, we'll open Power Settings Explorer. Now, scroll down until you see the Processor Power Management section. We'll have to untick or unhide Processor Idle Demote Threshold and Processor Idle Promote Threshold so we can see them in the power options. Now, close the app and open up the search menu. Then, type Power Options. Select the High Performance power plan and click Change Plan Settings. Then, change Advanced Power Settings. Set Turn Off Hard Disk to zero, Hybrid Sleep to off, Selective Suspend to disabled, and for the last part, we'll set both of our new hidden settings called Idle Demote Threshold and Idle Promote Threshold to 100%. Once this is all done, click Apply and then OK. Next up, we'll go ahead and unpark all of our cores in the CPU Unpark app. Drag the slider all the way to 100% and click Apply. Once you see the cores are no longer parked, go ahead and exit the app. All right, time's up. All we have to do now is restart the latency monitor to ensure the fix is working.
