SOGIE 101: SEXUAL ORIENTATION | HETEROSEXUAL, HOMOSEXUAL, BISEXUAL, PANSEXUAL, ASEXUAL

Hello again everyone and welcome back to my channel.

So this time we're going to talk about sexual orientation.

When we talk about sexual orientation, we are talking about who you are romantically and sexually attracted to.

Posible ba na natalinuhan ka lang?

Sexual orientation na 'yan, it has something to do with sexual orientation.

Depende.

All right, so we will discuss about it a little bit more deeply, no?

Pag-usapan muna natin 'yung iba't ibang klase ng attraction.

Actually kasi hindi lang naman sexually and romantically ang attraction na existing.

There are several, but I'll discuss some lang na medyo common sa atin.

First one, let's talk about aesthetic attraction.

Or physical attraction.

This is about appreciating the physical attributes of another person.

Does this mean na ang lalaki kapag na-attract physically sa kapwa lalaki, does it make him gay?

Not necessarily.

Natural sa atin ang ma-attract sa kapwa natin lalo pa at meron silang katangian or meron silang characteristics na wala sa atin na gusto nating gayahin.

Kaya nga may mga artista, kaya nga may mga modelo eh.

Ang intention is ma-attract ang tao sa kanila.

That's the reason why they also endorse products when people are attracted to them.

Na-attract din sa products.

Ginagaya sila.

That's aesthetic attraction.

Next is sensual attraction.

Ito naman 'yung desire mo to interact with another in a tactile or non-sexual ways.

Like hugging or cuddling.

Pwede bang mauwi ito sa romantic or sexual?

Yes, pero hindi lagi.

Yung iba dito na-friendzone actually kasi akala close sila.

Mahilig magyakapan, mahilig mag-cuddle.

They love leaning on each other and so and so forth.

Yun pala sensual attraction lang.

Hindi siya naging sexual or romantic.

Another one.

We have the emotional attraction.

This is the desire to know someone because of their personality.

This is found in all types of relationships.

Di ba may kasabihan, birds of the same feather flock together.

Usually emotional attraction 'yun.

Yung personality.

Halimbawa sa barkada, 'di ba, it's either nagustuhan mo at 'yung characteristics nila ay wala pa sa'yo at gusto mong magkaroon no'n.

Kasama ka doon sa grupo.

Gano'n ang nangyayari naman sa barkadahan.

You call it emotional attraction.

Another one, intellectual attraction.

It has something to do with what or how a person thinks rather than their personality themselves.

So hindi 'yung mismong tao, but the way they think, the way 'yung laman ng kanilang isipan.

Doon na-attract ang iba sa kanila.

Usually employee na-in love sa boss niya or student na-in love doon sa kanyang teacher or sa professor.

And gustong-gustong-gusto mo 'yung nakikita sila nagsasalita.

Ayan.

And then we have the romantic attraction.

Ang romantic attraction naman, it makes people desire romantic contact with another person.

Minsan ang tawag ka na lang dito, ito 'yung tibok ng puso.

May na-e-excite ka na.

May kilig factor.

Yan na 'yun.

Yun 'yung romantic attraction, you wanted to be with them alone.

To go out on a date.

Now that's romantic attraction, so 'yung kanina pinag-usapan natin.

Halimbawa physically attracted ka with somebody, with a classmate or with an office mate.

Okay lang 'yun.

That's physical attraction.

Pero pag meron ka ng desire to be with them ng kayo lang, dinner date, movie and so on and so forth.

Ang tawag na do'n is romantic attraction.

So physical na nauwi sa romantic.

So pwede bang combination?

Of course, pwede namang mag-combine-combine silang lahat.

Para hindi ka ma-friendzone, i-identify mo rin.

All right.

Then the next one is we have the sexual attraction.

This one naman makes people desire sexual contact or showing sexual interest to another person.

Um, ito naman 'yung tinatawag natin tibok ng puson.

Puso at puson, romantic and sexual.

Doon ang pinagkaiba nila.

So when we talk about sexual orientation, we're talking about romantic and sexual attraction to another person.

I'm clarifying person po ang pinag-uusapan natin.

We're talking about people to people and not people to animals.

People to animals, they call it bestiality.

Hindi natin siya topic.

Pag-usapan naman natin 'yung iba't ibang klase ng sexual orientation and there are actually five.

Ito pa lang ang alam ko 'yung lima.

The props once again.

When we talk about gender identity in the last episode, sabi natin lahat ng categories ay may salitang gender.

Dito naman sa sexual orientation, lahat ng categories ay may salitang sexual or sexuality.

Easier for you to remember.

Pareho din doon sa gender identity, nandoon na rin sa pangalan 'yung mismong kahulugan nila.

Nandoon din lang sa prefixes.

Let's talk about heterosexuality.

Hetero kasi ang meaning no'n ay different or other.

Heterosexuality is the attraction to people of the opposite sex or gender.

Remember, ang system natin is binary, so female and male.

In heterosexuality, itong si female ay na-attract dito kay male or si male ay na-attract kay female.

Yan ang heterosexuality.

The next one is homosexuality.

Homos, take note, I said homos and not homo.

Kasi ang homo na prefix, it means man or human being.

Pero 'yung homos, it means the same.

Homosexuality.

Ah, hindi nila siya ginawang double S.

This is the attraction to people of the same sex or gender.

This is commonly referred to as gays or lesbians.

So in other words, si female ay na-attract kay female at si male ay na-attract kay male.

Again, we're talking about sexually and romantically attracted.

Lang ha.

Next is bisexuality.

Bisexuality naman, 'yung bi, it means two.

This is the attraction to people of the same sex and to persons of another sex or gender other than their own.

Kung ito si female, pwede siyang ma-attract sa kapwa niya female at sa male.

Or pwede rin namang si male ay na-attract sa kapwa niya male at na-attract din sa female.

Yan ang bisexuality.

Ibig bang sabihin nito hindi sila faithful or hindi sila loyal?

Hindi po gano'n 'yun.

Iba po ang bigamy, monogamy at polygamy.

Iba po sila.

Yun po ay mga type of relationship.

Ibang topic po 'yun.

Pero oo nga no, what if 'yun nga 'yung susunod kong episode?

Types of relationship.

We'll see.

Going back, is it possible na ibang gender naman?

Oo naman, pwede.

Tara.

Di ba?

Mas marami na sila.

This is female.

This is gender queer.

This is transgender.

And this is cisgender male.

All right.

Itong dalawa may cisgender.

Cisgender female, cisgender male.

So ito 'yung ating tatlong gender identity.

Dahil itong dulo-dulo ay cisgender ang tawag diyan.

Kung babalikan natin si bisexuality, halimbawang si cisgender female, pwedeng ma-in love sa kapwa niya female at pwedeng isa sa kanilang tatlo.

For example, transgender siya na in love.

Ayan.

Ang tawag po diyan ay bisexual din.

So kahit po sa'n 'yung combination, isa-isa on your own and isa pang iba sa'yo na gender identity.

Pansexuality 'yung susunod.

Pan means all or involving all members.

For example, this is cisgender female, pwede akong ma-attract sa kapwa kong cisgender female, pwede akong ma-attract sa gender queer, pwede akong ma-attract sa transgender, pwede akong ma-attract sa male.

Gano'n din dito kay gender queer.

Ay pwede siyang ma-attract sa kapwa niya gender queer, pwede siyang ma-attract sa cisgender female, pwede siyang ma-attract sa transgender, pwede rin siyang ma-attract sa cisgender male.

Kahit kanino dito, pwede siyang magkaroon ng sexual or romantic attraction.

Meaning, hindi siya kasi tumitingin sa genitals.

Which is dapat naman talaga, 'di ba?

Bakit 'pag na-in love ka, kailangan kasama genitals?

Di ba, weird no?

Funny no?

Kasi kung tutuusin naman talaga, 'pag na-in love tayo or nagkagusto tayo, dapat hindi tayo tumitingin sa genitals.

Unless you are not attracted to it.

So sa akin, actually no, minsan even 'yung sexual attraction, it has something to do with the physical attributes, katulad ko, pwede akong, mali, hindi ko 'yan aalis na pwede akong magkagusto sa isang transgender man.

Kasi ang akin, okay naman kahit anong itsura, it's just that hindi ako attracted sa penis.

Parang pareho din 'yung iba, hindi sila attracted sa matangos na ilong, hindi sila attracted sa malaki ang boobs.

Hindi sila attracted sa mga taong may balbas bigote.

So for me, ang pagka-attract mo din sa genitals is the same no.

Physical attributes din kasi 'yun.

So that's the way I see it, I don't know with other people.

And then for the last one, we have asexuality.

The prefix A in health and sciences, it means not or without.

So this means sa mga asexuals, they lack sexual attraction to another or they have low or absent sexual interest or desire for any sexual activities.

Hindi sila talaga interesado.

Does this mean um single sila?

Not necessarily, pwedeng may partner sila, it's just that 'yung kanilang sexual activity is.

Hindi nila priority.
