How To Fix High Memory/RAM Usage On Windows 11 | How to Disable Hidden Windows Setting Eating RAM

Is your PC struggling to breathe? Look at this. Task Manager is showing nearly 100% memory usage, even when the computer is barely doing anything. That is insane.

Today, I'm going to show you how to disable a hidden setting that is literally eating your RAM alive.

First, head down to your search bar or hit the Windows key. We need to open the run command.

Type in regedit, that's R E G E D I T, and hit okay.

If it asks for permission, just click yes.

We're going into the matrix here.

Follow me closely, expand the folder that says H key local machine, then drop down the system folder.

From there, look for control set 001 and expand that.

Inside, you want to find and open the services folder.

Now, there are a lot of files here, so don't get lost. Scroll down until you find a specific folder named NDU.

Click on it.

On the right side, find the file named start and double click it. See that value data set to two?

Change that to four. This disables the network data usage monitor, which is a common cause of memory leaks.

Click okay and close the registry editor.

We aren't done yet.

Go back to your search bar and type in services. Click the app to open it up.

We need to stop one more background process that hogs resources.

Once the list loads up, just scroll down. We are looking for Windows search. Right click on it and select properties.

In the middle, change the startup type to disabled, then, and this is important, click the stop button to kill the process right now. Once it's stopped, hit apply and okay.

Go ahead and close the services window.

Now for the moment of truth, let's open Task Manager again.

Boom, look at that drop. We went from maxed out memory down to a healthy usable level. Your PC is going to feel so much snappier now.
