Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between VTT and SRT?
WebVTT (.vtt) is used by HTML5 video players and supports styling. SRT (.srt) is the most widely supported subtitle format. SRT uses comma in timestamps while VTT uses a period.
Does the conversion preserve all my subtitle text?
Yes. All subtitle text, timestamps, and cue timing are preserved exactly.
How does auto-detection work?
The tool checks if your file starts with WEBVTT — if so, it converts to SRT. Otherwise, it treats it as SRT and converts to VTT.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Currently the tool converts one file at a time.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All conversion happens in your browser.
