Psalm 91. We'll read the first seven verses together, and then we'll pray. Psalm 91 says, "He who dwells—everybody say, 'dwells'—dwells. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge. His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you." Father God, we invite You into our Bible study now, and we pray that by Your Holy Spirit, God, that You would teach us. You're our teacher; You're our chief Shepherd. So open up our hearts now to hear from You, and now as we submit ourselves to Your Word, I pray that You would just give us understanding. Lord, You're our teacher; be our teacher. Lord, You're our Shepherd; You're our chief Shepherd. So would You teach us now as we read Your Word? Encourage us by Your Word, Lord. We pray in Jesus' name, and all God's people together said, Amen. You may be seated. Um, I think that probably all of us are familiar with the childhood game Hide and Go Seek. Am I right? All right. I'm a young dad; I've got two kids at home, and I feel like that is literally all I do—hide and go seek. Dad, can we play hide and go seek? Yes, we can play hide and go seek. And maybe you have kids and they're grown, or obviously all of us at one point were a kid, and I'm sure all of us have played that game Hide and Go Seek. Okay, so I remember a day growing up. Maybe I was about 10 years old, and I was playing hide and go seek with my younger sister Lindsay. Now, I learned a tough lesson that day, the hard way, when playing the game hide and go seek, and it's this: never, never, never hide in the bathroom behind the shower curtain. So that's where I hid. I closed the door, I turned the lights off, I hid in the bathtub, I threw across the shower curtain, and I sat there. Well, then the door opens and the light comes on, and I think, "Oh great, I'm busted." But no, the door closes and locks, the person puts the seat up, and they sit down. [Laughter] And I was trapped. I was trapped for like a good 25 minutes. It felt like an eternity. It felt forever. Maybe a half hour, an hour—I don't remember. It felt like an eternity. To this day, the scent, I cannot erase the scent from my nostrils. Now, I won't divulge the family member—that would be an ungodly thing. You wouldn't be able to look at them the same way as they teach the word. So when I was reading—I know that's a crude intro; that's a crude intro to the study of God's Word—as I was reading Psalm 91, I could not get away from that phrase "hide and go seek." That's the title of our Bible study today: Hide and Go Seek. Now, why do I say this? Psalm 91, believed to be written by Moses, talks about the importance of the believer hiding in the Lord and seeking Him therein. Hiding in the Lord—what does it mean to hide in the Lord? The most important part of the believer's life is the hidden life that nobody else sees except the Lord. It is the hidden life of worship and communion and intimacy with the Lord that makes possible the public life of obedience and service to the Lord. Everybody get me on that? It is the hidden life—what you do in the secret place with the Lord, the private life of communion and intimacy and worship with the Lord—that then produces out of you and makes possible the public life of obedience and service to the Lord. Now, the flip side of that is also true. It is the hidden life of secrecy and sin that then eventually produces out of us the public life of destructive, harmful consequences. It is what we do in the secret place, in the hidden life of sin and secrecy, that will eventually lead to—now, not necessarily immediately, and that's why we think we can get away with sins—because we enjoy the behavior, and we don't always immediately feel the consequences. And that's the first lie of the enemy: you can get away with this, you can do that in the hidden life because we don't always immediately feel the ramifications of our sin. But it is in the hidden life of sin and secrecy that will eventually—because the Bible says your sin will find you out—that will eventually lead to the public life of destructive consequences. That's exactly why Paul would say in Galatians chapter 6, verse 8, he would say, "I say to you, to sow to the Spirit and reap everlasting life." What does it mean to sow to the Spirit? Well, you plant an apple seed; it produces an apple tree. You harvest what you plant, the Bible says. And so if you sow to the Spirit, you invest into the Spirit. You read the Word of God. You ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Your aim in life is to please the Lord, living with the power of the Holy Spirit. You sow to the Spirit, live to please the things of the Spirit, you will reap everlasting life, the Bible says. But if you sow to the flesh, Paul says in Galatians 6:8, if you sow to the flesh, you will of the flesh reap corruption. The hidden life—what you do when no one is looking except the Lord, who sees all things—it is the hidden life that's the most important part of the believer's life. And Moses, again believed to have written this 91st Psalm, speaks of the importance of dwelling in and hiding in the secret place in the Lord. And essentially, essentially the psalmist here asks the question: where are you living today? Where are you dwelling today? Where are you hiding today? Are you living in the ways of the world, or are you living in the ways of the Lord? Look at verse 1 and 2 with me. I'll throw up these verses on the screen for us as well. In verse 1, the psalmist says, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Verse 2, "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in Him I will trust." Notice there he says, "He who dwells." It's the Hebrew word "yashab," and it means to be set in, to set up camp in. He who sets himself in the secret place of the Lord, he says. Now notice this in verses 1 and 2: he says, "He who sets himself, sets camp in the secret place of the Most High." Notice all of these different titles, names, characteristics of God. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in Him I will trust. In the first two verses, Moses presents to us his listeners with four different names, titles, characteristics of one God: the Most High is the Hebrew word "El Elyon," the Almighty the Hebrew word "Shaddai," the Lord the proper name of God Yahweh, my God the title Elohim. Now, why does Moses use all four of these different names to describe the one true God? It's because he's setting up his listeners to understand this one point, and if you can grasp this, it's going to be life-giving to you today. When one understands the character of God, that then will produce within you comfort in the midst of chaos. In the midst of chaos in your life, the way that you find comfort is by resting in and depending upon the very character of God. He is the Almighty. He is Yahweh, which is the I Am, the all-present one. He is God, my refuge, El Shaddai, the Almighty, the Most High. And when you rest upon and lean upon the character of God and there within understand God as faithful and strong and your security, that produces comfort in the midst of chaos. Because what He's going to do here in verses 3 through 6, it's going to get a little bit chaotic. So He's having us understand when you rest in the character of God, that produces comfort in the midst of chaos. Some of you are here today, and if you are honest with me, you'd say, "I'm going through a chaotic situation right now." No?

03:41

Psalm 91 I could not get away from that phrase hide and go seek that's the title of our Bible study today hide and go seek now why do I why do I say this Psalm 91 believed to be written by

03:56

Speaker A

Moses he talks about the importance of the believer hiding in the Lord and seeking him therein hiding in the Lord what does it mean to hide in the Lord the most important part of the believer's life is the hidden

04:17

life that nobody else sees except the Lord it is the hidden life of worship and communion and intimacy with the Lord that makes possible the public life of obedience and service to the Lord everybody get me on that it is the

the flip side of that is also true it is the hidden life of secrecy and sin that then eventually produces out of us the public life of destruct uh destructive harmful consequences it is what we do in the

05:31

immediately feel the consequences and that's the first lie of the enemy you can get away with this you can do that in the hidden life because we don't always immediately feel the ramifications of our sin but in the it

05:48

Speaker A

is in the hidden life of sin and secrecy that will eventually because the Bible says your sin will find you out that will eventually lead to the public life of destructive consequences that's exactly why Paul would say in Galatians chapter 6 ver8 he

06:06

Speaker A

would say I say to you to sew to the spirit and reap everlasting life what does it mean to sew to The Spirit Well you plant an apple seed it produces an apple tree you harvest what you plant

06:20

Speaker A

the Bible says and so if you sew to the spirit you invest into the spirit you read the word of God you ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit your aim in life is to please the Lord living with

06:32

Speaker A

the power of the Holy Spirit you sow to the spirit live to please the things of the spirit you will reap everlasting life the Bible says but if you sow to the flesh Paul says Galatians 68 if you

06:44

Speaker A

sow to the flesh you will of the flesh reap corruption the hidden life what you do when no one is looking except the Lord who sees all things it is the hidden life that's the most important part of

07:00

Speaker A

the believer's life and Moses again believed to have written this 91st Psalm speaks of the importance of dwelling in and hiding in the secret place in the Lord and essentially uh essentially the the psalmist here asks the question where are you living

07:27

Speaker A

today where are you dwelling today where are you hiding today are you living in the ways of the world or are you living in the ways of the Lord look at verse 1 and two with me I'll throw up these

07:42

Speaker A

verses on the screen for us as well in verse one the psalmist says he who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty verse two I will say of the

07:57

Speaker A

Lord he is my Lord or he is my refuge and my Fortress my God in him I will trust notice there he says he who dwells it's the Hebrew word yav and it means to be set in uh to set up camp in he who sets

08:16

Speaker A

himself in the secret place of the Lord he says now notice this in verses 1 and two he says he who sets himself sets camp in the secret place of the most high notice all of these different Ty ID

08:31

Speaker A

names characteristics of God He Who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty I will say of the Lord he is my refuge and my Fortress my God in him I

08:43

Speaker A

will trust in the first two verses Moses presents to us his listeners with four different names titles characteristics of one God the most high is the Hebrew word on the almighty the Hebrew word Shai the Lord the proper

09:04

Speaker A

name of God Yahweh my God the title Elohim now why does Moses use all four of these different names to describe the one true God it's because he's setting up his listeners to understand this one point and if you can grasp this is going

09:20

Speaker A

to be life-giving to you today when one understands the character of God that then will produce within you comfort in the midst of Chaos in the midst of Chaos in your life the way that you find comfort is by

09:40

Speaker A

resting in and depending upon the very character of God he is the almighty he is Yahweh which is the I am the all presentes one he is God my refuge El Shai the almighty the most high and when you rest upon and lean

10:00

Speaker A

upon the character of God and there within understand God as faithful and strong and your security that produces comfort in the midst of chaos because what he's going to do here in verses 3 through6 it's going to get a little bit

10:15

Speaker A

chaotic so he's he's having us understand when you rest in the character of God that produces comfort in the midst of chaos some of you are here today and if you are honest with me you'd say I'm going through a chaotic

10:28

Speaker A

situation right now lost my job came out of a relationship my family is in shambles I lost a loved one and there's a lot of anxiety and a lot of worry and a lot of fear and a lot of Doubt rest in the

10:49

Speaker A

character of God and trust in him and that will be your comfort in the midst of the chaos God desires to speak to you right now by his Holy Spirit and he wants to be known as your comforter John

11:01

Speaker A

chapter 14 Jesus would say I'm going to send the Holy Spirit to you Holy Spirit the helper the paracletos in the Greek the one who comes alongside you and it's an invitation to us this morning to invite the Lord into the

11:16

Speaker A

messiness of your situation and know his character he is the almighty he is faithful he's faithful to you he's your strong tower he's your security and Moses invites the believer to find Refuge you can find SA and security and

11:30

Speaker A

peace and joy where you can experience God's presence and God's power but that happens when you get into the secret place when you hide yourself in the Lord when you dwell in the Lord when you set up camp in the Lord now then in verse

11:45

Speaker A

two he says I will say of the Lord he is my refuge and my Fortress now why do we need a place of Refuge a fortress is a place of security why do we need this but whether you realize it or not the

12:01

Speaker A

world has declared war on your hearts and Minds if you haven't noticed everywhere you turn the world seems to be persuading and pulling on your thoughts influencing and invading your mind I don't know if you have a place of

12:19

Speaker A

Refuge where you like to just go and get away maybe it's a vacation spot or maybe it's maybe it's the beach maybe it's a cabin in the woods maybe it's even just your car that place of Refuge after a

12:29

Speaker A

long day at work you got a long drive home and you see that drive as that place of Refuge where you can just kind of decompress at the end of the day Moses is inviting the believer to seek

12:40

Speaker A

the Lord to find the Lord to know and understand that the Lord is that place of Refuge where you can seek the Lord and get away from all of the burdens and distractions of the world all day long we are inundated and

12:55

Speaker A

overwhelmed with information all day long scrolling on the phone endlessly putting on the TV and watching a show or in info overload hearing the news the radio I don't know what it might be different forms of media not that forms

13:11

Speaker A

of media are wrong obviously not but sometimes what the enemy loves to do is not necessarily have us indulge in sin although yes he would love that but he loves when we become busy Believers busy distracted Believers why

13:27

Speaker A

because then when we're presented with the chaotic situation in life we haven't become accustomed to finding the Lord as our refuge but we seek people popularity position or a paycheck to find security and comfort and refuge oh if I just had

13:42

Speaker A

this life would be better or if I just added this onto my life life would be better if I just had that person that relationship that that career that job and we find our refuge in all of these

13:53

Speaker A

other places or things and Satan loves when be when we become busy believers just distracted the world is not for us the world wants to pull us in shape us into its mold and even more so than that we have

14:10

Speaker A

a greater NE Nemesis a greater enemy it's Satan the devil who the Bible says prows around like a roaring lion and if you notice in verses 3-6 Moses talks about the reality of spiritual warfare how so well check out

14:27

Speaker A

verse three he says surely God shall deliver You From The Snare of the Fowler and from the perilous pestilence he shall cover you with his feathers under his wings you shall take refuge his truth shall be your shield

14:40

Speaker A

and buckler you shall not be afraid of check this out the terror by night nor the arrow that flies by day nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness nor of the destruction that lays waste at noon Day Bible scholars believe that all of

14:55

Speaker A

these things the snare of the Fowler the perilous pestilence Terror By Night Arrow by day all of these are metaphorical terms for demonic entities and the writer here is helping the believer to understand the importance of seeking refuge in the Lord why because you have

15:15

Speaker A

an enemy who hates you you know that you have an enemy Satan who hates you he hates your marriage he hates your kids he hates your family he hates the that you desire to live for the Lord to be filled with the

15:31

Speaker A

spirit to get in the word to come to church surround yourself with like-minded Believers he hates it he hates your desire for Purity in your relationship he hates your desire to live for the Lord in righteousness he hates you for the

15:45

Speaker A

simple fact that you look just like your dad your heavenly father because you were created in the image of God and he hates that now I don't say any of this to scare us but rather just to prepare

15:57

Speaker A

us for the reality of spiritual warfare now sometimes the church can fall into two different extremes when it comes to spiritual warfare we're obsessed with spiritual warfare we think that Satan is behind every bad day I didn't get the

16:10

Speaker A

parking spot it was spiritual warfare it was the enemy we think that behind every sickness is a spiritual attack and sometimes we fall into that unhealthy extreme it's unhealthy why because Satan is not omnipotent he's not all- knowing

16:24

Speaker A

he's not Omni omnipresent he can't be everywhere at once amen but yes he does have his team of little minions he's got his demons running around to oppress the believer and so while yes Satan's not behind every Rock and we can't attribute

16:39

Speaker A

every sin or every temptation to the enemy why CU I can sin just fine all on my own I'm a dirty Sinner and it's super easy for I don't need Satan's help I do not need Satan's help I do just fine all

16:53

Speaker A

on my own I'm convinced of that we're all dirty Sinners we don't need the enemy but the Bible still presents the enemy as a real entity Satan is a real being who was in the garden and perverted God's word to Eve and said did

17:06

Speaker A

God really say that he's there at the beginning in Genesis he's appears again in the Book of Revelation he's right in between in the middle tempting Jesus in the wilderness Matthew chapter 4 we see him again talked about in the book of

17:20

Speaker A

Peter when 1 Peter 5'8 says be alert and sober minded for your enemy the devil prows around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour there's a real enemy who hates you and he wants to do anything and

17:38

Speaker A

everything he can to impede your walk with the Lord and to leave you distracted and discouraged in your sin and so Moses the writer presents all of these different demonic entities to help us realize spiritual warfare is real now he first addresses

17:54

Speaker A

the snare of the Fowler the snare of the Fowler talking allegorically of Satan now what is a snare and what is a Fowler well a snare is a trap right a snare is a trap and the Fowler a Fowler

18:09

Speaker A

is a bird trapper someone who hunts someone who hunts for Birds traps Birds now if you didn't know this is just my day job my night job I'm I'm a bird trapper I'm a Hunter okay that's a that's a joke I'm not I've never been

18:23

Speaker A

hunting in my life but it's such a manly thing I love I love the idea of hunting for those of you who hunt and maybe you bird trap maybe you hunt for deer I love you that's so cool cuz it's such a manly

18:35

Speaker A

thing like just getting bloody getting dirty and shooting up some amazing animals Peta is really going to hate that but it's true I mean it's it's pretty cool it hunting is awesome I'm not a hunter right the furthest I've

18:49

Speaker A

gone I hunt for deals at the mall with my wife that's as far as I go but I love the idea of hunting and being manly okay so I was doing a little bit of bit a bit of research like what is a what is a

18:59

Speaker A

Fowler what is a Fowler well it's a bird trapper and some of you Trappers will appreciate the different techniques obviously in Bible times they didn't have gun you couldn't shoot down your prey but they had different techniques for bird trapping they had the trapo

19:12

Speaker A

technique um some of these are you know still modern day strategies for bird trapping the clap trap I have no idea what that mean you just like clap your clap your prey down the clap trap the funnel traps the cannon Nets The Noose

19:26

Speaker A

traps bird lime again I'm just presenting the research I don't know what this means Spotlight trapping Spotlight trapping it's actually possible especially with pheasants you can catch a pheasant by just beaming a spotlight right at it and it like tases

19:44

Speaker A

it and there you just you catch it you pick it up I was like man this would be awesome for kids like I would love that when I when my girls are being disobedient just shine a bright Spotlight on tase them

19:55

Speaker A

send them to bed oh that would be awesome that would be so cool so Spotlight trapping and the psalmist here is saying that the enemy has different traps and techniques and strategies in the same way Satan has different techniques strategies

20:16

Speaker A

different traps in order to lure in The Believer why cuz the enemy studies us and he knows what works for you and might what might work for me and he sets in schemes different traps according to the different weaknesses that he knows

20:36

Speaker A

to be there and again I don't say this to scare us or to put us on this hypers spiritual lookout for spiritual warfare just presenting biblical reality Satan is a strategist and he schemes and that's why in Ephesian uh it's Ephesians

20:52

Speaker A

chapter 6 I believe where it says be on the lookout for the Ws of the devil WS it's that's new King James KJV that's uh other translations say the schemes of the Devil he's a schemer he's a Trapper

21:06

Speaker A

and he's good as at his job but then check out verse four where then it speaks about God's Divine protection over the one who's experiencing spiritual oppression verse four it says he shall cover you with his feathers and under his wings you shall

21:26

Speaker A

take refuge amen now the writer is speaking metaphorically God does not literally have wings and Feathers but he's speaking metaphorically of God's Divine protection over the one who hides himself in the Lord the Lord's wings are like a shelter a refuge and a hiding

21:47

Speaker A

place and what I love about this verse as well in verse four it says that his truth God's truth shall be your shield and your buckler that the truth of God's word is is going to be your main line of

22:00

Speaker A

defense against the schemes of the enemy God's truth why is this important to know because what the enemy does is he lies to you oh that's not really sin and so we've become a society and a culture and sometimes even the church at

22:15

Speaker A

large begins to think oh that's not really sin because the enemy speaks and breathes lies into our culture that's not sin did God really say that same thing he said to Eve in the garden so it's important for us to get in the word

22:30

Speaker A

of God to bathe our hearts and our minds in the word of God to know what truth is biblically speaking so that when the enemy pours lies into our culture into our society into our government into our minds we can combat it because we know

22:43

Speaker A

the truth of God's word but we got to bathe our hearts and bathe our minds in the scriptures and you got to know it and you got to dig it out Satan knows the Bible Satan knows the Bible we see that in verses 7

23:00

Speaker A

to13 in verses 7 to13 there's going to be some familiar verses to you in verse 7 it says a thousand may fall at your side and 10,000 at your right hand but it shall not come near you only with your eyes shall you look

23:16

Speaker A

and see the reward of the wicked because you have made the Lord who is my refuge even the most high your dwelling place no evil shall befall you nor shall any plague come near your dwelling familiar verses here in verses 11 and 12

23:31

Speaker A

for he shall give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways in their hands they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone you shall tread upon the lion and the Cobra the Young Lion and the serpent

23:44

Speaker A

you shall trample underfoot why are verses 11 and 12 familiar Satan quoted these verses to Jesus when Satan was tempting Jesus in the wilderness Matthew chapter 4 Satan knows the Bible he has great theology Satan and the demons have great

24:05

Speaker A

theology they know the word they know the Bible they just don't surrender and submit to that right theology that's the difference between Satan and a Believer Satan has right theology he he knows the word he knows the Bible he's

24:19

Speaker A

just rebelled against it he doesn't submit and surrender to it that's why it's important for us to know it's not not just knowing the word but it's surrendering and submitting to the truth of God's word Satan's rebelled against

24:32

Speaker A

the the the right theology but he still knows theology he knows the Bible so he quotes the word to Jesus in the wilderness but what does Jesus do he quotes scripture right back that's why it's important to know that even in the midst of Satan

24:50

Speaker A

twisting and perverting scripture to us we need to know the word so we can use the word as the offensive tool to put out the fiery darts that the enemy tries to shoot our way that's why Ephesians chapter 6 it lists the sword

25:04

Speaker A

of the spirit which is the word of God and we have to as Believers be hiding in the Lord dwelling in the Lord and getting in the word because his truth verse four and five will be your Shield

25:16

Speaker A

God's word is going to be your defense so that compels us as Believers to get in the word and to know the word now in verse 9 here in verse 9 it says because you have made the Lord who

25:31

Speaker A

is my refuge even the most high your dwelling place no evil shall befall you again the word dwelling is the Hebrew word yav and it means to camp in to remain in to abide in to stay in sometimes we think of our

25:50

Speaker A

relationship with Jesus as like some kind of Airbnb like we check into Jesus then we check out of Jesus right okay we check into Jesus cuz we're going through a hard day today was a bad day Lord I

26:01

Speaker A

check into you but then when God puts a Band-Aid on our problems then we check back out okay God I'm good you helped me there and I'm fine now and I'm going to go live the way I was living and when

26:10

Speaker A

I'm having a bad day again I'll come back and we check in we check out like it's Yahweh Airbnb oh I love Yahweh Airbnb he lets me check in whenever I want but then when things are good I

26:20

Speaker A

check back out the word dwelling means to stay and remain in to Lodge in no more are than is checking in and checking out with Jesus many of us have played that game and it doesn't work the Lord invites us and beckons us

26:39

Speaker A

to make him our home to dwell in him to remain and abide in him it's why Jesus would say in John chapter 15 I am the vine you are the branches you can do nothing apart from me remain in me and I will remain in you

26:55

Speaker A

you understand the Beautiful Exchange of the relationship that we have with God God it is an invitation for the believer to dwell in the Lord to hide in the Lord and then what happens the story of the Bible from Old Testament to New

27:08

Speaker A

Testament the promise the New Covenant was that we not only are going to dwell with the Lord but the Lord then Promises by his Spirit to dwell in us the Tabernacle in the Old Testament where they would dwell with the Lord

27:23

Speaker A

would foreshadow what the Lord would eventually do by his Spirit where he would Tabernacle and dwell with us so it's not only an invitation for the believer to dwell in and to hide in the Lord but then the Beautiful Exchange is

27:38

Speaker A

when we turn from sin and Trust in Christ he dwells within us by the power of His holy spirit am I the only one who finds that so unbelievable we dwell in the Lord we hide ourselves in the Lord we're covered

27:52

Speaker A

in the Lord and then he dwells in Us by his Spirit he desires to fill you full and fresh with his spirit so so that you might know what true peace what true Joy is filled with the fruit of the spirit

28:02

Speaker A

to walk in peace to find security to find true Freedom the enemy will package things in our lives that we mistake for True freedom and true gratification and it's a false presentation everything looks good on the outside but the inside is only

28:21

Speaker A

filled with destructiveness we feel dry and empty but when we dwell in the Lord he then fills us and fills us full with his presence helping us to navigate this difficult life so that we might say God my times

28:38

Speaker A

are bad but you are good and I'm filled with the presence and joy of the holy spirit this is what the Lord desires of us now we're going to end here in verses 14 to 16 and this is where Moses closes

28:50

Speaker A

out this passage now notice with me here in verses 14 there's a change of voice here no longer is it Moses writing to his listeners but there's a change of voice here and now it is God speaking to the one who has hidden

29:09

Speaker A

himself in the Lord or hidden herself in the Lord verse 14 says because he has set his love upon me therefore I will deliver him I will set him on high because he has known my name he shall

29:21

Speaker A

call upon me and I will answer him I will be with him in trouble I will deliver him honor him with long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation now we have God's response to the one who calls upon me to

29:39

Speaker A

the one who loves me and desires to know me I will then deliver him I will set him on high I will answer him I will be with him in trouble I will deliver him and honor him I will satisfy him with

29:52

Speaker A

long life this is the beautiful thing about our relationship with the Lord is we hide ourselves in the Lord and then we get the blessings and benefits of his presence where he satisfies us and he answers us you need answers from

30:08

Speaker A

the Lord for a decision that you need to make hide in the Lord go into the secret place and the Lord will speak to you through his word by the Holy Spirit but have you given him that opportunity to

30:20

Speaker A

speak have you gone into The Hiding Place with the Lord have you allowed him to speak to your life by getting away from all the busyness and distraction sitting sitting alone with the word asking Lord fill me with

30:34

Speaker A

your Holy Spirit and give me answers to some of these questions that I have I don't have all the answers God I don't even know what's going on I just know I need your wisdom and discernment but the

30:43

Speaker A

writer says he shall call upon me and I will answer him are you feeling spiritually attacked by the enemy because he has set his love upon me therefore I will deliver him and I will set him on high

30:58

Speaker A

I will be with him in trouble I will deliver him and honor him are you having difficulty avoiding those addictive substances because you think that's the only thing that's going to satisfy well with long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation

31:15

Speaker A

God desires to satisfy you today but it starts with hiding in the Lord two elements of the Christian Life here Moses mentions for those who set his or her love upon me I will deliver him and because he has known my name to love and

31:34

Speaker A

to know God the two things sometimes we confu we we make the life of the believer so complicated and complex oh the Lord doesn't love me today I didn't read my Bible today he likes me less no when we just aim to love and

31:49

Speaker A

know God the Lord is right there with you helping you and walking this hard and difficult challenging Life With You by the power of His Holy Spirit when you love and know God what does it mean to love God the Hebrew word is hasak and it

32:03

Speaker A

means to cling to to attach yourself to the Lord and when you love the Lord you will then obey the Lord why because Jesus says if you love me you will obey my commands so having a love for Jesus

32:14

Speaker A

doesn't just mean to intellectually believe he exists oh I love Jesus me and him are good right no to love Jesus means to fully Surrender Your Will and your desires and your appetite to the Lord and when you love the Lord that

32:27

Speaker A

will help you by the power of the Holy Spirit within you to live a life of obedience and then when you aim to know the Lord that will drive you to get in the word CU if you have a desire to know

32:38

Speaker A

the Lord you'll get into his book you'll hunger after righteousness and you'll be in the word and you'll know the Lord and you'll know his word you'll know what dishonors him how cuz you're you're in the word you

32:49

Speaker A

know what pleases him why you're in the word and He makes himself known to you in the pages of the Bible to know and love God let's get back to the basics here of the Christian Life to love God

33:04

Speaker A

with all my heart soul mind and strength and to know him by getting into his written word and he will then in the secret place of his word he will make himself known to you and he will deliver

33:16

Speaker A

you and he will answer you and he will satisfy you and he will show you his salvation now what I want to do is I want to go into a time of communion now the ushers are going to come forward

33:29

Speaker A

quietly and I want to pray for any of you who are here today who you feel like you are in the midst of a spiritual attack now you need to know this The Believer cannot be demon-possessed when you repent of sin and Trust in

33:46

Speaker A

Christ for salvation he fills you with his Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is not sharing space so The Believer cannot be demon-possessed but the believer can can be demon oppressed there is a s such a thing as

34:01

Speaker A

spiritual oppression where the enemy desires to spiritually attack you and fill you with worry and fear and cause you to doubt and so what we're going to do is we're going to enter into the secret place together as family and we're going

34:17

Speaker A

to call upon the Lord to deliver us so with all of our eyes closed let's go into a time of prayer with our heads bowed I want to pray for you if you feel like you're under spirit spiritual

34:27

Speaker A

attack would you just slip up your hand and say that's me I just feel like I'm under spiritual attack today from the enemy I don't know why I don't know what what all that means just slip up your

34:38

Speaker A

hand and I want to pray for you Lord you see all of the hands raised across the room and I pray Lord that you would show up in their lives that you would deliver them Lord that you would replace worry

34:50

Speaker A

doubt and fear with your life with your love with your peace with your joy remove and keep the enemy far from the hands that are raised far from the family of God keep the enemy far from them Lord deliver them out of all

35:06

Speaker A

their trouble and we thank you Lord that the enemy has no power over us for we're not fighting for victory we are fighting from a place of Victory the victory has been won through the cross thank you Jesus Deliver Us now Lord and now

35:25

Speaker A

replace worry and fear fear depression anxiety replace those thoughts and feelings with the fruit of the Holy Spirit love joy peace patience kindness goodness faithfulness gentleness self-control bathe this room in the power of your spirit God and Deliver Us

35:46

Speaker A

Lord we trust in you our deliverer our Mighty Fortress our Strong Tower our refuge here we are Lord in the secret place hiding under the shadow of your Wings protect us Lord protect our marriages protect our families protect

36:04

Speaker A

our schools keep the enemy out Lord and replace this the uh the enemy's influence replace the enemy's influence with the power and might of the Holy Spirit fill us full and fresh God and now as we go into a time of communion we

36:22

Speaker A

remember your sacrifice on the cross thank you for dying on the cross for our sin rising from the dead and because you live we also shall live we thank you Lord in Jesus name amen
