I've been walking around with this rig recently. 00:08 Speaker A This, this—hang on—this rig right here. These, these four cameras. I've been, I've been running around with these four cameras, and something has surprised me in my testing of these four cameras because at the same time that I've been testing these, 00:24 Speaker A I've had multiple friends go on vacation and then hit me up and say, "What, what camera should I bring with me?" And they've always had like three options. 00:31 Speaker A It's always, should I bring like a point-and-shoot style camera? Should I just use my phone? Or they, they kind of stumbled upon one of these pocket-style cameras. 00:42 Speaker A And in my testing of these four cameras and just answering my friends' questions, like trying to really figure out like, like what is the best camera for them? Like, like a normal person that just wants to go on vacation, they want 00:53 Speaker A to film their daily life. What camera is best for them? And, and there's one that I've been recommending basically to everybody, and it's been this guy, the DJI Pocket 3. And again, if you are like that person that's like, "No, I need the, the latest and greatest. I want the best of the best of the best." And you don't care about budget. Again, I 01:34 Speaker A think yes, I would point you this direction. But again, most people and like keeping in mind like law of diminishing returns here, um, I think the Pocket 3 is the way to go. And number one is price. Price is, is big. People are going on vacation. 01:59 Speaker A They're already spending a lot of money. They're in their daily lives already spending a lot of money. And price, price is a big factor here. Let's, let's go through these boys first here. The DJI Pocket 4P, which if you're in the US, 02:12 Speaker A you can't even get the thing. But in Europe, I got it down at starting [music] at €599. 02:19 Speaker A And then the creator combo, which I always think people should get, is $689. That is $694 for just the camera or $800 for the creator combo. 800 like that. We're, we're getting into some pricey territory here with the Pocket 4P. But the Luna 02:38 Speaker A Ultra, this guy starts at $769 and then the creator combo is $969. And then if you again are not in the US, you are somewhere else, let's look at the—wait, turn, turn off. Let's look at the DJI Pocket 4, which is kind of just 02:55 Speaker A the, the, the newer version of the Pocket 3. This guy goes for $499 starting, or $619 for the creator combo. 03:05 Speaker A That is $578 or $717 for the creator combo. The DJI Pocket 3, which you can get in the United States, which is kind of again why on this list it, it becomes important to me and my friends. If you jump to like the, the pocket point-and-shoot world, these things get like wildly expensive. This is the Sony ZV1, but the ZV1 Mark II is out. Oh, this thing sells for $900 for the ZV1 Mark II again versus $550 for the whole creator combo. Point-and- 04:03 Speaker A shoots, man. Dang, they've gotten expensive. And then shooting your phone. I'm going to talk about why you shouldn't shoot with your phone on vacations or filming daily life. Okay, let's jump to number two, though, and this is a [music] big one. Image quality. The DJI Pocket 3 has a 1-inch sensor in there, has 10-bit, has DLOG M. 04:26 Speaker A The image quality coming out of this camera is incredible. And even when I put them into this crazy rig that I put together here and we went to the beach the other day and I filmed a bunch with 04:38 Speaker A the Pocket 3 and I filmed some like side-by-side four-way shots with all four of them in this rig. And the Pocket 3 look, for most people, this is already incredible image quality coming out of this thing. But when you compare like, like this footage versus this footage, I think that this looks significantly better, especially if you go from standard mode into the 05:40 Speaker A DLOG M and then, and then do some editing on it. Uh, these guys look point-and-shoots [music] I think it looks okay. 05:46 Speaker A They have one just massive drawback and that is stabilization. We'll get to that in number—oh, number four. Okay, on to number three and that is audio quality. 05:55 Speaker A Audio quality is massive. I've always said this in videos is that you can watch a video where the, the, the video quality, it isn't great. Even there's a lot of artists that like muddy up their image, right? Like they add grain and 06:08 Speaker A they add all this like film effects so that it kind of doesn't look as good as it could [music] look on purpose, but the audio has—who's beeping? You're beeping. But audio quality, you can't watch a video for very long if the audio 06:23 Speaker A quality goes bad. Like it just hurts the ears and you will switch off of it. It is very difficult to listen to a video that sounds bad. So, with these cameras, this camera, your phone, or a point-and-shoot, audio matters. Okay, so we all 06:37 Speaker A know that audio is important. And again, audio on all three of these pretty decent. Audio on the iPhone, audio on the iPhone is good. I wouldn't say it's terrible. Same with the ZV1. I think if you're close like this, especially like 06:50 Speaker A arm's length away type of thing, pretty dang good. Same with the Pocket 3. The built-in audio is nice. But here's the thing. Well, actually, this is kind of like an audio thing and a tracking thing because check this out. On the Pocket 3, 07:04 Speaker A I can double tap my face. And now the Pocket 3 is going to track me. Now, I, I kind of don't like the framing of this one. So, I'm going to reframe by using the joystick to go down a little bit. 07:14 Speaker A There we go. And now, wherever I go, the Pocket 3 will track me. But also, I have a DJI wireless microphone on my shirt. 07:25 Speaker A So, if I was to set this up, I was to go somewhere and I was to step way back here, I still have crystal clear audio on the Pocket 3. Now, on the ZV1, you'll still be able to hear me. I'm, I haven't 07:36 Speaker A gone like a mile away. Same with the iPhone. Decent. I'm, I'm over here. Uh, but again, as I turn around, things like that. The iPhone now completely trash. But the Pocket 3, perfect audio because again, the audio is, it's right here. I have a wireless 07:52 Speaker A microphone that is beaming to the Pocket 3. There's nothing else that I have to plug in. On the iPhone, I have to plug in like a little receiver on the bottom of an iPhone to do this trick. And the ZV1, 08:02 Speaker A I don't know how you do the ZV1. I think I guess you could, there must be some w 08:09 Speaker A But next up, the big one that really distinguishes I think this from this or this guy is stabilization. we're all kind of used to at this point now like seeing footage out of one of these two things and being like ah it's very it's 08:25 Speaker A it's a little it's smoothish but it's a little like bumpy like if you're walking around with one of these guys you're going to see the whole image like dumb with your footsteps and it's because both of these are using digital 08:37 Speaker A stabilization versus [music] what the DJI Pocket 3 is using which is mechanical stabilization look at look at the little see a little camera bit right there look I can move the the handle this way. I can move it this way or I 08:52 Speaker A can wait if I hold the button. Hold on. Now I can twist it. So now I can do all sorts of crazy movements and the the gimbal just stays there like a little like a little chicken head, right? 09:03 Speaker A Mechanical stabilization, threeaxis mechanical stabilization built in. So even when I'm at the beach like running with filming my kids, you don't really see my running footsteps. If I'm walking, it is like stupidly smooth. It looks ridiculous. It's why also like 09:17 Speaker A when you see filmmakers filming, they'll use something like this guy, like a big old gimbal system with their camera on it and they're like holding it and walking all all stable like it's because that gives you a significantly smoother 09:32 Speaker A stabilization than digital stabilization. All your phone is doing or the point shoot is doing is it's taking like the full image, it's cropping in. So when you turn stabilization on on one of these things, it crops and now it only shows you this 09:47 Speaker A inside box so that as the outside box shakes, it can take that inside box and like try to digitally move it around to try to keep things stable. And it's why like it works pretty well until it doesn't. And then when it doesn't, 10:02 Speaker A you're like, "Oh my gosh, it's it's hard to watch that footage because it's so shaky and so wild." And you can legitimately run around with one of these things and it just looks so stinking smooth. Stabilization, it matters. Okay, on to number five. Number 10:17 Speaker A five is storage. And I know this one sounds kind of weird, but it's really why I tell people not to just use their phones when they go on vacation. There's plenty of benefits to filming with your iPhone, but one of the things that I 10:30 Speaker A really feel like people have done because we have limited storage on our iPhones because everything that we film with our iPhone is going to the cloud and then we pay for cloud storage and then Apple emails us and goes, "Your 10:40 Speaker A cloud storage is full." Now you got to pay more every month just to keep all these photos and videos in there. When we film with our phones, we mentally, I think, know that now. So, we film short clips. Like life has become five and 10 10:55 Speaker A second clips. go through your camera roll and just click on videos and just look at all your videos and how long they are. [music] Most people's iPhone video, like if you've shot an iPhone video for like 30 seconds or 45 seconds, 11:07 Speaker A that's a long clip. But back in the day, like when we captured life through home videos, we just filmed. Like we we put uh we got our little Sony Handy Cam and my mom and dad ran around and just 11:18 Speaker A filmed. When I was in high school, I had my own little handy cam and I would just film for like an, you know, 20 minutes. 11:23 Speaker A I could just hit record and we'd be doing something. And I look back at those videos where I see these like long clips and I think that you you get such a better feel for that memory for that 11:36 Speaker A trip that you went on for you were at the beach and you guys were hanging out and kids were running around doing stuff and you're just filming like you're just like let the camera roll on this cam. 11:45 Speaker A Wait.
