Quizzes and flashcards

Quizzes and flashcards from your own lectures

Record a lecture and SozAI turns it into notes, a quiz of 5 to 15 questions and flashcards that come back on a schedule. Every answer points to the moment in the recording where it was said.

Rereading your notes or testing yourself

Rereading feels productive. A quiz shows what you actually remember, while there is still time to fix it.

### Rereading your notes

You open the notes, nod along and close them. Nothing tells you which parts you would fail on.

- You find out what you forgot only at the exam
- Writing your own questions takes longer than the lecture itself
- Hand-made cards pile up with no schedule
- Old topics get no attention until the week before

### Quiz and flashcards in SozAI

SozAI writes the questions from the text of your recording and keeps track of which cards are due.

- A quiz made from what the lecturer actually said
- Each answer comes with an explanation and a quote
- Cards return later each time you remember them
- Missed questions go to the deck in one tap

How the study loop works

Four steps, all built from the text of one recording.

### From a lecture to a quiz

Record a lecture in the app or upload an audio or video file. When the transcript is ready, SozAI builds the notes from a template. For a lecture the notes hold chapters for longer recordings, terms, facts and a block called Likely to be asked.

The quiz is a separate step. Choose a recording, tap New quiz, and the questions appear in the Quizzes tab, usually in under a minute. You can leave the screen while it works. A quiz has 5 to 15 questions with four answer options each, and the recording needs at least 200 characters of text, so a few seconds of speech will not produce one.

How the notes are made is explained on the [lecture notes page](https://sozai.app/lecture-notes/). To see the idea on a short text first, try the free [quiz generator](https://sozai.app/tools/quiz-generator/).

Quiz ready in about a minute

### Answers that show their source

After you pick an answer, the app tells you whether it was right. Under Why you get an explanation and a short quote from the recording. When the quote carries a time, tapping it opens the text at that moment, so you can read, and hear, exactly how the lecturer put it.

The questions are written by an AI model, and a model can be wrong. Hold a question to report a problem with it and we will look at it. Treat the quote as the check: if the explanation does not match what was said, trust the recording.

At the end you see your score, the time you took and the questions you missed. Your last result stays next to the quiz in the list, so you can compare it with the next attempt.

Every answer has a quote and a time

### Flashcards that come back at the right time

SozAI picks definitions, facts and what the speaker called important, and makes up to 30 question and answer cards from a recording, usually in under a minute. Each recording gets its own deck.

Open Review to see how many cards are due today and start a session. On each card tap Show answer, then rate yourself: Again, Hard, Good or Easy. The better you remember a card, the longer SozAI waits before showing it again, and cards you miss return sooner. Cards you have not seen yet start from Learn new.

If you want a nudge, switch on review reminders. You get one notification at the time you choose, and only on days when something is due. The reminders are local notifications on your phone.

Four ratings, one schedule

### Mistakes go straight into the deck

On the result screen tap Add mistakes to flashcards, and the questions you missed join the recording’s deck. The next review session then spends its time on what you got wrong. Questions that are already in the deck are not added twice.

You can retake a quiz whenever you like, or make a new one from the same recording: the questions will be different. A new quiz for the same recording is limited to three in 24 hours, so for the same set a retake is the better choice.

Quizzes and flashcards do not use your transcription minutes. Only transcribing a recording does, and the [pricing page](https://sozai.app/pricing/) shows the free minutes and Premium. Generation has daily limits to keep the service stable.

Where the quiz and cards help

Any recording with enough spoken content will do: a lecture, a lesson, a training session.

### University lectures

Record the lecture, take the quiz in the evening and review the cards over the next days. The Likely to be asked block of the notes shows what the notes mark as probable exam material.

### Language lessons

Notes for a language lesson collect words with translation and examples, grammar and phrases. Cards made from the same recording give you something to review between lessons.

### Online courses and YouTube lectures

Paste a YouTube link or upload a course video. Once it is transcribed you can make a quiz from it like from any other recording.

### Training and workshops

The quiz list treats lectures, lessons and meetings alike. Record a training session and check yourself on it the same day.

From lecture to review in four steps

Nothing to retype: everything is built from what the lecturer said.

1

### Record or upload a lecture

Record on your phone or add an audio or video file of up to 500 MB. A YouTube link works too.

2

### Read the notes

Terms, facts and a Likely to be asked block appear next to the transcript, built from the Lecture template.

3

### Take the quiz

Answer 5 to 15 questions. After each one, open Why for the explanation and the quote.

4

### Review the cards

Rate every card from Again to Easy. SozAI decides when to show it again.

Details that make revision easier

Small things you notice after the first week of using it.

### Quote with a time

When a question has a source, the quote shows its time in the recording. Tap it to open the text at that spot.

### Review reminders

Pick a time and the days of the week. The reminder arrives only when cards are due, as a local notification on your phone.

### A deck for each recording

Cards stay grouped by recording. Open a deck from Review, or open the recording from a card’s menu.

### Retake and compare

The quiz list keeps your last result. Retake the same quiz or make a new one from the recording.

### Report a bad question

Hold a question to report a problem with it. AI-written questions can be wrong, and reports help us catch it.

Answers

## Questions about quizzes and flashcards

More answers are in the help center.

How much do quizzes and flashcards cost?

Quizzes, flashcards, notes and translation do not use your transcription minutes. Only transcribing a recording does. Every account gets 30 free minutes of transcription once, and more minutes come with Premium, bought in the app from $3.99 a week or $44.99 a year as an orientation price. The store sets the exact price for your country. Generation has daily limits to keep the service fair for everyone, and the app tells you when you reach one.

Can I retake a quiz?

Yes. The Quizzes list shows your last result next to each quiz, and Retake opens the same questions again. You can also make a new quiz from the same recording, and then the questions will be different. A new quiz for the same recording is limited to three in 24 hours, so when you reach that limit, retake an existing one or come back the next day for new questions.

Where does it work?

Quizzes and flashcards are in the SozAI app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The account is the same everywhere, so decks and quiz results follow you if you sign in on another device. Find the store links on the [download page](https://sozai.app/download/). The app creates a guest account on first launch and adds a sample recording, so you can try the quiz without uploading anything.

What if a question or an answer is wrong?

Questions and answers are written by an AI model from the text of your recording, so mistakes are possible, especially when the transcript has errors. Under Why you see the quote the answer is based on, and tapping it opens that place in the text, so you can check it against the recording. Hold a question to report a problem with it, and we will review it.

Does it work for recordings that are not in English?

Transcription works in 99 languages, and the notes, quiz and flashcards are built from the text of the recording. Quality depends on how clean the audio is and how well the speech was recognized. For a language lesson, the notes also collect words with translation and examples. If the transcript has many errors, the questions will reflect them, so check the text first.

How short can a recording be?

A quiz needs at least 200 characters of text, which is roughly the first twenty seconds of speech. Shorter recordings are marked Too short for a quiz in the picker. Notes have the same minimum. Long lectures are fine, but a quiz never has more than 15 questions, so for an hour-long lecture it samples the main points instead of covering every minute. Make a new quiz later for a different set.

Will I get reminders to review?

Only if you turn them on. In review settings you choose the time and the days, and the app sends one notification when cards are due. On days with nothing to review you get nothing. The reminders are scheduled on your device as local notifications. You can switch them off at any time in the same place.

Make a quiz from your next lecture

Record it, read the notes, answer the questions and review the cards tomorrow. The first 30 minutes of transcription are free, and quizzes and cards do not use them.
